Not 100% sure, but it looks like Rawtherapee does not have the retouching tools that are in the Darktable (like the spot removal). On the other hand Rawtherapee is considered more advanced and robust in general (it even supports Pixel shift that - to my surprise - is not supported event in Adobe Lightroom)
I second the suggestion to start with Darktable if you just step in to this area for the first time. It's way more friendly, but you can install both and check which suits you better.

I was trying the Rawtherapee on Linux but it is too complex for me. I can do some basic PP in it but prefer Lightroom (unfortunately not available for Linux). I have a plan to learn it but as my wife has a full set of Adobe apps I do not have enough motivation for it [emoji16]

Welcome back!
Few years back my father in law bought a Sony camera with EVF (can't remember the model). I found both delay and image quality (in the VF) irritating and thought it's worse than the live view. But I presume this has improved over those years.... I even watched some review on youtube of some recent Canon FF mirrorless camera and have to admit the EVF looked quite good...
So, would you mind telling us more about your 'bad decision'? I think some people (like myself) would be interested in that story... ("back from mirrorless hell" :D)
Eitherway - good to have you here :)

LOL... Kind of joke for photo-freaks only....
It reminds me of the time when my daughter used the contact lenses for the first time. She has astigmatism so the lens need to rotate a bit to reach the correct position. Until then, there is a problem with "blurry image". I was joking she had a temporary AF issues. Why was that funny only to me? :hmm:

Have you try the plastic-fantastic DA 35/2.4 (https://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/SMC-Pentax-DA-L-35mm-F2.4-AL.html)? I have no experience with more expensive primes, but this dirt-cheap lens is so sharp that I cannot imagine anything better in this respect. In the review it was marked as 9.1, but my personal experience is that it's way better in that area than my Tamron 70-200/2.8 that scored 9.6.

Welcome on the forum!
I think that for the beginning of the journey an ASP-C body will be ok. You can compare them on this web page: Pentax K-3 III vs. Pentax K-1 II vs. Pentax KP - Pentax Camera Comparison - PentaxForums.com.
I'm quite sure any Pentax DSLR give you a lot of joy and plenty of options to explore. To help you decide which one is the most appropriate option, you will have to share some details on what are your expectations and what do you plan to shoot (landscapes, portraits, sport, macro, etc.) Also, tell us what Pentax lenses do you currently have and try to ask yourself which are you planning to buy in the nearest future. Unless you have an unlimited budget (which is rarely the case :)) you will probably have to decide whether you just need the newest, coolest body or something cheaper plus some special lenses...

Great shot! May I ask if this was heavily edited? I like the balance between the sun and the rest of the picture and wonder if that's due to great lens or good PP....

Yup, totally agree. I think that the only option for me to have some fun during this season is to spent time on learning PP tools and experimenting with camera settings at home.
Greetings from southern Poland ;)
