I was out at the boundary bay airport the other day, and snapped these photos of this hawk, what kind is it? if anyone in the lower mainland wants an easy spot to see a good grouping of eagles and hawks, at boundary bay Ive seen up to 20 eagles in a day.

I went for a walk today along the dyke by Boundary Bay airport in Delta BC. There were some guys playin golf, one wearin shorts. Gotta love livin on the west coast.

thanks Jimbo. its the way i held the camera, I have to pay better attention to the horizon. the birds were runnin pretty quick along the waterline.
DB, the original i had to resize to upload it here, I hadn't cropped any from that pic. I gues to make that one better, shave some off the top on one side to try to make it a bit more square? I realized after when I was looking at the pics at home that I'ld shot at a higher iso than i should have. thanks for the comments.

photo was taken at long beach, tofino, which ones better? the one on the left cropped, or the original on the right. any other suggestions welcome. thanks in advance.

thanks guys. the last one was taken with a 70-300, and i was on the beach. theres a spit of land that juts out a bit which is how i got that.

Last week I had a chance to fly to Tofino and walked down to long beach. the winds at the airport which is a 10 min walk to the beach were less than 10kts. wicked looking waves. Canada's first ever proffesional surfing competition is being held there oct 25th till 31st. here's a few of my favs. One question I have, I cant seem to decide which or how much to crop the last pic. any thoughts would be appreciated.

I went to the Abbotsford international airshow yesterday. It was a pretty good day cloudy, but no rain. Tons of cool airplanes there, from little homebuilts to a b-52. these are 3 shots i thought turned out very well worth sharing.

I went up to hope for the hope fly in on sat. It's good way to spend the day sun, fun and airplanes. In the morning there were several airplanes taking young kids up for their first ride in an airplane. These are a few shots i took up there.
Any comments and suggestions always welcome.

Dale, unfortunately i wasnt. was shooting jpeg, ill try and fiddle around with it see if i can lighten it up some.
iced it was lucky that he wasnt goin all that fast when he hit the ditch.

A few good reasons to have your camera with you at the airport. Started off by a young eagle in a tree, 2 plane crashes on both runways, unfortunatly only the cherokee pics turned out. I couldnt get in a good spot to get pics of the other airplane. luckily both pilots were ok. The cherokeee flipped over after hitting a ditch. The news chopper had the best view in the house.

thanks Gawan, I wish the lighting was a lil brighter. I've got a few others I think are decent to post.
that is indeed the nose section of the Avro Arrow and a section of the wings. This one was cut differently, the nose section is relatively intact, the cut was made aft of the pressure bulkhead. It was used by a research center for pressurization testing. The engine immedialty aft of the Nose section is the Orenda Iroquis which was meant to power the Arrow. Both engine and airframe were designed in Canada.

About the middle of the month I went to the Ottawa aviation museum, spent a few hours there going through the musuem totally awestruck by the collection. Here's a few pics of the collection.

the 20 is very comfortable to carry all the stuff in. i find if i leave my 70-300 lens on, it just fits inside with a room to spare. i'ld definitly recommend it. the side pouches are handy for putting spare sd cards in as well as batteries or whatever else. i tend to do a lot of travelling on airlines and the one thing i like is you can fit 2 books into the top compartment. very happy with the bag.

-daz, normally vancouver will get a little snow, but it doesnt stick around for long. this time we had a lot and stuck around for quite a while, pretty rare. When Im back there I'll try and get a diff shot of the barn in better conditions.
-daacon, im pretty sure its a young bald eagle, there's a about a dozen that hang around that area.
