it's got to be robust, like trade tools. Pentax K-1 and new lenses really meet this criteria. I always feel like I have plastic in my hands with my Canon video camera and DJI Air 2S. I feel like I've got a rock in my hand with Pentax K-1.

K-1 (and K-3 ?) Flash Contact Functionality & Cheap Remote Flash Trigger?

I've had the Yongnuo 560 (mkII?) flashes for a while. I have been very pleased with them. I have four of them and run them off camera visa the controller in the hot shoe. I've done events where I've placed them around the room so I can shoot from anywhere with confidence they will bounce off the ceiling and not hot spot the subject. I've also done fashion shoots where I've put them in a multi hot-shoe adapter that goes inside a big parabolic reflector, and the results have been great. I haven't used optical trigger with them yet, but I'm largely using a studio light now (Godox QT600II) and it throws it stack of light. I often supplement with a reflector or an LED light, but need to see how am optical trigger works to do background fill. Eg https://www.viewbug.com/photo/68906417

There's a RESET function in the menu. Use that, it well likely solve your problems. You'll need to reset image prefix afterwards, maybe to a new one so you don't have duplicates. Good luck.

It's good to see some action photography with the K-1 mkii and the 70-200 f/2.8. I've just bought this lens to replace an older Tamron which is just too slow for pet photography. I would love to see more of your action photos of you have some!

Has anyone tried the 1.4 TC with a K-1 mkii and a 70-200? I have a Tamron 70-200 that's maybe 6 years old now. It's not fast on focus but it's nice glass. Seeing I'll normally be using the TC to get more reach, I'll probably be hyperfocal anyway, so I'm wondering what the combo works like. Anyone tried this?

Hi Joe, I've just tried my Pentax K-1 with the xpro-p and Godox QT600IIM I just bought. I works a beaut. I'm hoping to get dogs catching dog treats with this!

---------- Post added 07-15-19 at 12:58 AM ----------

Very sorry to hear that DollarBill. I've just bought a Godox xpro-p trigger and Godox QT600II strobe to do hss. I've tested it just now and it works well.

It's like to know how you succeed with this please. I'm looking at xpro-,P on my Pentax K-1 with QT600II. I'm looking at doing some shots of dogs shaking wet in a controlled light environment. The New Godox QT600II light has hss capability, and if I use the X-pro-p (Pentax version) controller with my Pentax K-1, I'll get the kit I need to do this.
Have you pushed up the shutter speed into hss? Have you got good results? Is the colour temperature fairly stable?*Is the trigger and light working well now? Did you upgrade the firmware on the light? I heard that can be important.

Thanks!*

Is this night photography coloured dot distortion from my sensor?

Wow guys! What a lot of input. Thank you. Here's a bit of clarity:

A. I wasn't using long exposure noise reduction. Does it affect RAW files? If so, I must reconsider.

B. I've heard of using a dark frame subtraction. I'll have to look up how to do this on my K-1. Any references appreciated.

C. I used two lenses in this shoot. I believe I started with my Samyang flat 14mm f/2.8. It's this lens that the camera always thinks is 15mm. I should post another topic about this to see what people have to say. (advice, opinions?)

D. The other lens is my (made for K-1) Pentax D-FA 24-70 f/2.8. I must confess I thought the image from the prime lens was much superior. I use the 24-70 a lot for dog photography (fourfootfotos.com) and for portraits. It is wonderful on auto-focus compared to my other lenses, and produces a consistently nice image.

E. I'm a Ubuntu Linux devotee (please don't run away). After an injury that left me unable to work and took my house, I learned to week with open-source software. I use Darktable and GIMP. I also have RAW Therapee, but it's very technical, and I'm still learning it when I have time (yes, and a million other things too).
Whilst Darktable is quite amazing, offering drawn masks, parametric masks and other goodies Lightroom doesn't, I still haven't got Chromatic Aberration working properly! I need to get some expert advice I think.

I must download the images stevebrot produced! Thank you so much Steve.

Lastly, as a small VICTIMS fur my K-1 photography, I've been asked today to be a featured photographer at the Ballast International Foto Biennalli here in Australia. I'll be doing two (weekend) days during the 6 week festival of dog photography! It's a paid gig (only a few hundred each time at my own determination), but the amazing thing is the exposure. We have international exhibitors here, and people come from overseas and all round Australia to this amazing festival. I'll have my 4.5x3m black gazebo set up as a studio and my Pentax equipment will be proudly on show. I'll be advertised, and the organisers will take bookings for 15 minute time spots. My dog photography site is https://fourfootfotos.com. The Biennalli site is BALLARAT INTERNATIONAL FOTO BIENNALE |.

Hi all,

I had my first go at night photography at Halls Gap, Victoria, Australia on the weekend. Pentax K-1 Mk1 with Pentax 24-70 f/2.8 as released for K-1. I had the camera & lens callibrated in Melbourne tech lab of distributor; it made a big difference.

I'm not sure what the small blue and red dots are on my RAW file. Has anyone experienced similar? How did you deal with it? The file is in my Google Drive due to upload limitations here:

K1SD7509.DNG - Google Drive

Regards from Australia.

I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience. I've had Pentax K100D, K100D, K3 and now K1. The K1 worked fine when my Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 DI LD IF whatever else (2 years old now ). But when I bought the new Pentax 24-70 f/2.8 or just wouldn't focus properly. Manual mode for beautiful results, like yours. I rang CR Kennedy, Australian importer, and they asked me to visit. They spent an hour recalibrating my new lens to my K1. It is now just fantastic. Maybe you're having a parallel experience.

Wow. Thank you so much did the result. This has really been bugging me,
and I couldn't find an answer. I'll give it a try. I think I have LensFun already installed in my Ubuntu box (Ubuntu Studio, but with Gnome installed over the top), but it's the database update and the link to Darktable that has completely mystified me!
