I have found that a 1-2" strip of electrical tape or book binding from exterior of the lens body to the hood does fairly well stabilizing loose hoods like you are describing. And using red or light blue colored tape adds a nice accent to the lens!

As GUB said, you might want to consider a 50mm lens as your start point. If you later want wider, add something in the 31-35mm range. If you want longer, add a 100mm macro. Learn to see, learn to use your equipment to best advantage. In a year or two, consider auto focus and zooms, because by then you will know how to control and effectively use your camera and won’t let the gadgets get in your way.

I haven't read the whole thread, but I saw this in one of your earlier posts: Being based in Perth (most isolated capital city in Australia and maybe the world) and not wanting to ship overseas does limit my selling opportunities...
And that clearly answers your question. When I first noted that you are in Australia, I thought that you had limited opportunities to sell unless you were willing to ship international. And for something like this, I am sure that even a "local" buyer (Adelaide? Melbourne?) would want a chance to see the camera before committing big money.
RE eBay, it has been a year or two since my last eBay sale or purchase, but I always found it a good place to buy and a good place to sell.
RE your 645Z - I will have a short visit to Australia in March 2024 (Sydney). Let me know if the package is still available then. And meanwhile, if you do decide to ship international, I would be interested in buying the zoom lens.
Good luck!

Pentax K-3iii Asking Price
1,750.00 USD Item Location
Michigan (United States) Item Description
Pentax K-3iii. I bought it, tried it (approx 935 shutter activations), decided to stick with my K-1ii - I had trouble adapting to the new menu structure and the touch-screen functions on the K-3iii
1. Sale includes Like New body, original box and packaging, manual, warranty card, etc.
2. I'll add a 2nd battery (off-brand) if you want it.
3. I'll include an external battery charger. The K-3iii comes with a wall wart and cable to plug into the camera for in-camera charging. I find external charging to be more convenient and will include a charger if you want one and don't have one.
4. Pentax sent me a commemorative embossed PentaPrism. You can have that if you like.
Price ($1,750 USD) includes insured shipping within the U.S.
If you have a used K-3ii (i.e., Mark II) in good condition and are looking to move up, I will consider accepting that body in partial trade and the final net cash price would be $1,100. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?
Yes Are you selling or trading this item?

I have packed my tripod in my suitcase. First removed the head, that went into carryon camera backpack as that big chunk of metal is sure to set off luggage X-ray alerts, and they’ll inspect while your are not there. I’ve carried my tripod strapped to my backpack, once aboard the tripod goes in the overhead, the backpack under the seat. I travel with a spare credit card and a notion of where I might order backup emergency gear overnight if something did get damaged.

Kirk also has L-plates for the K-1.
Nobody I have found has simple or L-bracket plates for the K-1 with grip attached. I have Generic versions that I can make do but nothing custom fit for the K-1+Grip like RSS and Kirk do for the body.

The linked pdf is a spreadsheet/graph showing the FOV of various lenses on the APS-C, K-1 and 645Z bodies. I put this together last summer when I had all three systems, was working through which body & lens combinations I wanted to take with me on a trip to Alaska. I wanted minimal redundancy and I wanted to be sure I had the best combo for each of several anticipated shots. My FOV calculations are horizontal, not diagonal. |
