OK, I have had my KP for a couple of months now and love it! I did not like the small grip with my biggish hands, so have fitted the largest grip and it is GREAT! Cost a bit though and had to get it from USA (none in Aus). It is a bit unwieldy with my DA* 200mm on, but such beautiful pics! I am experimenting with Astro work and have got the ASTROTRACER device and have so far tried the KP out with 24mm lens (Samyang, manual) on deep sky stuff. I am going to try composite images with it. Also I am going to hook it up to my refractor telescope and try some prime imaging with the composite settings and timer. Has anyone out there tried astro with it yet??

You're lucky that it is only a camera or lens! I have now got heaps of different filters, 2 flash guns, 2 K50's 1 KP, 1 Fuji X100s, and about 10 lenses, not to mention 3 lap tops to view my pictures, a tablet, over a dozen SD cards - all because I saw some nice photos once....AAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHH. DONT SHOW ANY MORE PHOTOS PLEASE..... Limit them to out of focus, over exposed shots of rubbish!!

The hole is at the back of the lens at 300mm, so how could a foreign body get to the front? There is all that glass in the way. Must be something that was left inside during manufacture. It is white. Everything in my lens is black. Strange.

That Digital story was great! I learned more in 10 minutes and trying it out on the KP than staring at the manual for hours!

I have just bought a GPS unit for my KP - mainly for astro. I do however want to see the compass and lat/long info on the screen like the manual says. But.....alas, no compass, no lat, long, or even time. The astrotracer function seems to be working OK and the time and location are written into the EXIF data. Is this function not available on the KP? a note on page 121 of the manual says "Caution. Simple navigation cannot be used on this camera." Any suggestions?: ---------- Post added 05-04-17 at 05:26 AM ---------- Oh Dear, silly me. I didnt read the manual properly. On p 121 it says to go to shooting info display on page 16. I did this and found I had to get to the status screen by hitting info button! then just press right arrow a couiple of times and Hey Presto, there it was, the compass and all that good info on latitude, longitude, height above sea level , time in GMT - all valuable stuff to help me take a good photo!! Well done the KP manual - It WAS working after all!

I have had my KP for about a month now. I am very pleased with it, BUT .....that grip it comes with is hopeless for my hands. I had to buy the large one from B & H in USA. Came today - it is great! One problem I have with it is the GPS I bought seperately for Astro work. I cannot get the compass to work, or to get lat and long up on screen. I took a photo last night of the stars nand the lat and long and time are all there in the EXIF data, but nowhere on screen. Is it possible to get compass to work? I tried everything! Only 2 photos and only 2 minutes, but stars look pretty good and round. I tried f5.6, ISO 800, 120 seconds. Anyone else tried astro yet? Jimmy

Hi from TASSIE!
I have had several Pentaxes - the first was a istDL, then a K50, then I went absolutely MAD and am now the proud owner of a KP. It looks to be absolutely brilliant and tonight I was experimenting with composite pictures of the sunset.
I dont much like the small grip on it and have ordered a large grip from B & H in USA (Aussie, I'm afraid, no good).
I love sunsets and macro flowers and have a HEAP of lenses collected over the years. I hope to show some of my pics in due course.
Jimmy from Tassie
