Guidelines for New Members
Welcome to PentaxForums! We're delighted you've chosen to join us!
This community has grown tremendously since its launch in 2006. Whilst some of our members shoot with other brands of equipment, the majority are dedicated Pentax enthusiasts. All are here to enjoy friendly and constructive discussion related to Pentax.
As a new member, we politely ask that you show the same consideration and courtesy as you'd expect in return. Please get to know our members - especially those who've been with us for some time - by reading existing discussions and involving yourself in some friendly conversations. Take some time to establish yourself as you would in any community before expressing opinions or statements which might be contentious or controversial. Always try to present your views in a friendly, courteous, constructive, balanced and reasonable manner. Most of our members will welcome your views if you present them in this way.
If at any time you feel responses to your posts are inappropriate, please don't get drawn into arguments within the forums. Instead, report the responses to our moderators, who will assist and advise as necessary.
Most of all, please help us to keep PentaxForums a friendly and enjoyable community for all concerned. Thank you!

In order to keep the forums running smoothly, maintain a great browsing experience, and prevent problems, please follow the simple rules outlined below.
General Conduct Rules
- Be nice. Correspond with others as you would your friends, except nicer. As we have younger members and users from across the globe, please consider your language. Each member may have one account and all posts must be in English only, or must have an English translation.
- No politics or religion please (those topics almost always end in arguments). This includes posts not strictly political that may encourage follow-up posts which are.
- Meaningless posts, one word replies, posting only a link, posting the same thing multiple times, spamming and trolling, illegal activity (or discussion of the same), and brand wars / brand bashing are not allowed. Do not post any material that is libelous, defamatory, obscene, harassing, threatening, hateful, rude or in violation of any laws or copyright.
- Sales, trades or "wanted" posts or threads can only be made in the Marketplace, subject to the Marketplace rules below.
- No porn. NSFW content is allowed in select forums only, must be marked with the NSFW thread prefix, and genitalia must never be visible in photos. Guests cannot see posts marked NSFW. You may hide all NSFW content via your account settings. No NSFW avatars, signatures, or wording.
- You may link to relevant resources on your own website or any other website provided it is "Safe for work", but please don’t use the forum solely for the purpose of linking. If you link to your own website or your own YouTube channel or other site / stream, then you should include a back-link on your site to our site, on the page you're linking to, or you should mention our site in your video. If you're a Site Supporter, you need not include a back-link.
- Comments regarding the site system or moderation should be limited to the Site Suggestions part of the forum. Any complaints referencing other members’ behavior should instead be submitted privately via the contact form. For private discussions between members, please use the Private Message (PM) system.
- Disregarding the rules may result in a rule reminder notice from site staff or moderators via the Private Messaging system. Further disregarding of the rules may result in your posting privileges being removed either permanently or for a period determined by the moderators. Spammers are banned from the site as soon as they are found.
- Members are encouraged to report posts that fall foul of the rules by using the “report” function (triangle icon or “report” link next to any post). To allow for effective intervention by the forum staff, please avoid replying to posts which you report.
- The owners and moderators of this site reserve the right to remove, edit, move, archive, or close any content for any reason.
Section-Specific Rules
Photographer's Marketplace
Our forum features a section where users may buy and sell items, called The Photographer's Marketplace. Regular members must donate to the site in order to sell in this section, but our most active members (Pentaxians) are given access freely. Note that in order to carry out commercial or bulk sales, an monthly access fee must be paid. Private Messages
The private messaging (PM) system, once you have made 2 forum posts, allows you to privately contact any user on the forum. Links allowing you to PM members quickly can be found throughout the forum, and you can also send private messages directly through the User CP. You may also choose to be notified of new PM's via e-mail, but please be adivsed that the e-mails are for notification purposes only and cannot be replied to directly. To reply to a PM message sent to you via e-mail, please access the User CP via the link provided in the e-mail. A copy of the private message will be in your PM Inbox on the forum
File Uploads
We allow all forum members to upload attachments (photos) to their posts or threads, photos to the user photo gallery, and photos to personal albums. Illegal content is not allowed; uploading privileges can be revoked upon abuse.

Post your Photos (PyP) section
Many members consider it poor etiquette for other members to post additional images in their "Post Your Photos" threads. If you would like to add an image, to someone else's "Post your Photos" thread, then please ask the OP (thread creator) first.
Legal MattersIllegal Activity
Should illegal activity be noted on the forum, appropriate action will be taken against any offenders. This may include a ban or the intervention of authorities.
Liability
The owners of the Forum take no responsibility for the misconduct of any user or guest. We are not liable for the content of any post, thread, or photo, although we will try to eliminate any objectionable material on sight. Furthermore, we are not liable for any data loss or other damage caused by the site or routine forum maintenance, including downtime.
The Forum does not take responsibility for any material uploaded to it. Objectionable material is removed immediately, as is copyrighted material once we have been notified of its existence. Each user also is personally responsible for the content he or she posts on the forum. By posting content on the forum, each user acknowledges that it may be altered, removed, or stored at any time, and that the Forum maintains ownership and full control of all posts submitted to it. Private data (PII) such as e-mail addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers, etc. may not be posted in public and will be deleted by the forum staff.

Privacy
Any private information, such as e-mail address, collected during the use of the Forum is never given away or made visible to the public or shared with a third party in any way. We also take the security of your information very seriously.
Private information about you collected by PentaxForums.com is limited. It includes:
- E-mail address (for communications and registration verification)
- IP Address (for security reasons only)
- Date of Birth (optional, to confirm age above 13 years)
- Browser & page access information (anonymized, for statistical reasons only)
Certain site pages may include third-party banner scripts, such as Google Adsense. While these do not collect personal information, they may place a cookie on your system and are subject to a separate privacy policy as published by the third party.
If you wish to have your forum profile removed, or any of your personal information removed from the public forum, please contact us.
When one donates to our site via PayPal, we do not obtain any personal information except the transaction ID and PayPal e-mail address. This information is only used to contact you if needed. We may have access to the name associated with your Paypal account, if you chose to share this information when donating.
Regarding occasional site e-mails: you can unsubscribe from all site e-mails by accessing misc.php?do=unsub as well as disabling e-mail features via the User CP and removing all thread/forum subscriptions. We will assist you with this if needed.
We do not recommend the disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in your public profile or on the Internet in general, and we are not responsible for any consequences that may arise thereof. Profile privacy may be configured in the User CP. Note that we cannot guarantee the privacy of anything that a user him/herself places in public sections of the site, or that a user sends to other users via Private Message or e-mail. However, the moderators will remove information such as e-mail addresses, mailing addresses, or phone numbers that are found to be shared publicly, as noted in the prior section.
