I had this idea about using verbal commands on a camera knowing that it would not be that useful in some cases such as video recording with audio and perhaps wildlife photography, but was curious what others might think and what commands might be useful? I started to think about it when doing some astrophotography and how I would be able to use it to go to night mode.

I started doing this many years ago when I was backpacking a lot. I needed a way to help protect lenses, so I decided to take worn out tube socks and cut off the foot portion leaving the stretchy ankle part and slip that over my lenses. It just adds an extra layer of protection to my lenses while making use of something that I would have thrown away. You can use a permanent marker to roughly mark the outside if you want. It worked so well that I continued to do that for all of my lenses even today. You might be surprised how much they can stretch over a lens. Of course this may not work for some larger lenses, but I did find that old boot socks will work in some cases.

I would not use that on any lens in my opinion. You only want to use a mild detergent or soap solution to clean it. How you clean it is probably just as important if not more important than using strong chemicals. I suspect that others might know more about the coatings on the lenses than myself, but in my opinion that might compromise the coatings.

That is a massive lens. It must be a bit heavy.

Common problem in astronomy as well. In addition to suggestions already you can do a few things. Make sure that the ground that you place the tripod on is firm and avoid damp areas, even walking around that will cause vibration. You can even bring your own pads of your choosing, could be just boards. They make weights for tripods and there is a weight bag that attaches to the tripod to place rocks or other weights into it such as, this, https://smile.amazon.com/Vanguard-SB-100-Stone-Bag/dp/B0051OGJQE/ref=sr_1_4?...tronics&sr=1-4.

Try this again. For some reason I could not attach a MSWord file that contained a table without loosing formatting.
I started a list to help me to compare and thought that it might be helpful to others.

I have just purchased the K-1 and also still have the Spotmatic which I won third place in a world wide Pentax photo contest many years ago. Things have changed.
