Snow scenes are very interesting to shoot. You might also go to a local botanical gardens that has an orchid greenhouse and or butterflies. I'm attached a shot I made in the orchid house in Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. I shot this with the DA55-300 spot metered on my K30. I'm about to frame it and hang it on my wall of favorites. Good shooting, to you. Freddy

Schnitzer: There is no other lens that could take this very fine picture any better than you did with the Plastic 35. Freddy ---------- Post added 08-26-14 at 12:36 PM ----------
Dave, you will absolutely love that combo and you will definitely be a part of the Kool crowd. Nice decision. Freddy

Great shots from the 16-45. One of my very favorite lenses. The trees don't bother me in your cityscape. They balance off the left and right of the composition very nicely and they are very stately in the setting. Freddy

Mtux, that is a brilliant shot. Wonderful sharpness, color, bokeh and detail. Nicely composed, too. The bug is exquisitely captured. A winning shot. Freddy

Amazing landscape shot from the amazing 35, Hatti.
I'm taking my 35mm on K30 body on a wedding cruise this weekend. The boat is very well lit so I won't even need a flash. I know the 35 shots will
be better than the 40mm ltd I used a few years ago at a sweet sixteen party (of course I had to use a flash for most of the 40mm shots on my K100D)
I sold the 40mm because I just enjoy using the 35 more. Cheers, Freddy

Thanks, Hatti. All in all I was very pleased with the way my DA55-300 performed. It can cover a very nice range of focal lengths.
One problem I ran into: About 3 or four times my camera didn't fire after focus confirmed. I got kind of a gray curtain in front of my lens.
Anybody else have that experience. I though it might be the shutter getting stuck. Or maybe it happened because I was changing back and
forth from automatic to Manual focus. Will appreciate any comments about that. Freddy

Arizona Dave. Wonderful shots. The baby zebra just brought tears to my eyes. Amazing detail from your DA55-300 zoom.
I went out on my terrace yesterday, because I wanted to see how good it resolves at 5 feet. I was very pleased. The light on my terrace is a little difficult so I didn't show my closeup florals, here. I DID shoot the attached wakway lamp, with a couple of magenta colored floral bushes behind it about 10 feet.
I spot foccused on the lamlp post at 60 feet. AV mode, at ISO 1600. I shot it at 260mm. lens speed 1/4000 second. The camera chose F32. I must say that it is obvious that really good resolution can be had at 260mm. Comments welcome.
I decided to take only this lens on my traditional August outing at Brooklyn Botanical gardens this Thursday (weather permitting). I plan to shoot all florals at about 5 or 6 feet. I should get very good resolution, I'm thinking. I'm dying to expand the horizozns of this really fine
lens so I can feel comfortable using it as all-around lens. PPS I used the lens on my K30 Freddy

Mtux...outstanding!! The floral shot is just plain delicious, even including great detail on the small bee. You couldn;'t do any better with any other camera/lens combo. The Kingfisher was a really nice composition. Love the detail in the building shot.. Thanks for the treat! Freddy

Super shot, Hatti. I remember when I bought my DA 16-45 used from a fellow forum member. I didn't know a lot about it at the time, but having used it a lot I finally realized I had latched onto a really special lens of great optical quality. A really effective wide angle. Freddy

Rondec, these are amazing shots with the DA55-300. I like the middle one and the giraffe the best. I myself have been delighted with almost any shot I took with it. It is a very special Lens. I agree whole heartedly with Paul h. If you can't afford the WR model, then by all means buy the cheaper DA L plastic 55-300. I did and I love it to death. It's a beauty of a lens and a bargain at about $329. new. Freddy Correction. I just saw it listed now on Amazon for about $270. new
