Hello again,

The lens is on it's way back - on Monday. I brought it to a local DHL pick up station. The seller cooperated. And thanks to all of you.

This lens also doesn"t tighten up like the Takumar lenses

I found a nice Takumar SMC 35mm f3.5 after comparing it to the F2 lens. The lens I chose has the auto switch on the side

The lens arrived tonight by DHL and I was suprised by it's light weight compared to the SMC Takumar 28mm f3.5. I don't know much about it's construction but I chose this by it's reviews which are generally good and my price was $294 plus DHL shipping. His asking price was $309 but I offered $294 and by surprise he accepted it. Now I need to bribe my wife to go somewhere to use it. I had my eye surgery yesterday but the doctor was unable to finish. He said there was an unknown problem with the iris and the lens which had to be attached. Doctor speak left me with putting in eye drops 4 times a day. The lens was put in in 2014 during cataract surgery which I wanted for my target shooting at the time to 600 and 1,000 yards, I couldn't tell the doctor that though. I was astounded by the difference. seeing a tagboard color VS muddy white. Anyway I am anxious to use the new lens. I was going to buy the Takumar 35mm f2 untill I saw this and I have long wanted to use the Flektogon.

I want to mention how pleased I am with this most pleasant forum. There are some very talented members and I hope to see my Pentax family grow. I need to dispose of a bunch of other gear along the way.
Thanks, John in Albany, Oregon

Alas this lens appears to have a serious problem in it's mounting. It screws in then a hesitation and then screws in but the scale on the lens doesn't line up where it needs to be, compared to the Takumar lens. I am going to request a return and refund. Then I will look at the Super Takumar 35mm f2
Thanks, John

Thank you for your patience. Someday I will get this right:) I am currently in hospital with my left eye temporarily patched until tomorrow but I have long coveted this lens and I purchased an m42 body to use it and of all the ones out there I chose the best in my opinion, the ES II

Sorry for my late response. The adapter mounted perfectly with the green dots lined up and it snapped in place. The aperture ring turned as normal and then I screwed it into my ES II. The ring will not turn. There should never be any force required. I have used many of these in the past but this my first for any Pentax. The seller is quite generous in sending me 2 others to try. I wil send him all the others - other than the Leicaflex and Leica R adapters becaue I still own the camera bodies.

I decided to buy this lens. It is a Carl Zeiss Flektogon Auto 35mm f/2.4 Jena DDR MC . It looks like mint and according to the seller in Japan it has no issues. I paid $294 plus shipping.

We will see what we shall see

Hello,
I purchased a Tamron Adaptall 11 Pentax ES mount and installed it successfully to an SP 01a 35-80mm lens. I screwed it into my ES II but then the aperture ring will not turn. Any suggestions ? I didn’t check for a specific model for the ES II.

Thanks, John

Actually I began to use Leitz optics in 1969 with my M4 & an M2R. I stopped with them in 2005 or so because my hands and thumbs were so bad and were destined for surgeries. I sold what I had then. I also owned IIIf red dials in my film past. Leitz optics are very much out of our budget now , although I did buy a Vario Elmar 35-70 f3.5

I do have a couple of 35mm Pentax's and they likely will be sold as I am compacting my 35mm cameras, but this is a great place to find thorough third party lenses. I have recently bought a couple of Leica SLR bodies because I used them in the distant past and they were really inexpensive. A Leicaflex SL and a Leica R4. The lenses are another matter and our budget doesn't allow for Leica lenses but the Tamron Adaptall lens do. The difficult - and expensive - part are the Adaptall 2 lens mount adapters. If any of you can sterr me to any I would be grateful. I did find on from Camera Traders in Victoria BC for a very low price of $12 plus shipping!
Thanks for welcoming me to this forum.

I stumbled onto this site while searching for advise on a moderate zoom lens for a Spotmatic SP F. I am virtually all digital, but I began many years ago with various 35mm cameras as well as medium format cameras. I mostly used Leica cameras but also Minoltas and in later years I got back to a Pentax. (I used a Pentax H1a while in Vietnam in 1966) I will not likely be a member who comes here every day although I respect and admire those who are faithful to film cameras, especially the good ones.
