Thanks for posting. I do not have social media accounts so would have missed it. It is interesting how Pentax is trying to pique interest of younger generations in film, instead of appealing to current user base of either Pentax or in general film cameras. Thinking faaaar ahead it seems and trying to get new generation of Pentaxians aboard, this time with film. Though with film SLR I suppose those interested in digital too would stay at brand - lens compatibility will be strong tool.
No, let them release it at least :D I would like to take this new camera for first polish big airshow for closeup shots.

Go for it. Really, it can be really freeing to try something new and light. Phones are good to the point that if you want to have some photo printed in A4 on the wall - you will get the quality out modern phone. And if you find that you want a "real" camera you can always buy one later. Be it ILC or some compact like GR or whatever. Though I doubt you would want to return if what you do is mostly snapshot photography.
I was the same at one point, but I am now with lenses I really want and it would be hard to get photos I want with phone (fisheye, short zoom and telephoto). Sold everything else and I am so friggin happy with my photography now :D

Camera may be available even long after it is discontinued. In Poland you can still buy new kit Pentax KP with 18-50 for ~900$

K-3, KF, GR and Theta (camera bussines) are profitable according to Ricoh own yearly data. So they do covered costs and are earning money it seems. What camera participated most? Dunno. If I were to guess it is GR as they sell same camera for long time and looks like have broad enough fanbase to release special versions regularly, released new lens (IIIx) and have moved abroad with GR events. K-3 monochrome also most likely participated in that as that camera came at almost no development cost and production was mostly set up for it so compared to starting with regular K-3 it was most likely very cheap to manufacture it.

I will get it even in 70-300 form :) 70 Limited was okish for side shots of airliners on my local airfield so 70-300 will be good too :)

Skill is always lacking. But I rather concentrate on getting better at my hobby, then divide this time between skill and fight with gear.
Skill is always lacking.
I never complained about K-3/3 AF with 55-300 PLM lens. It was perfect, totally modern, MILC-like experience when it came to my photography. With this lens K-3/3 felt like any other modern camera I held in hand, Nikon, Sony... you name it. Just that IQ at certain types of shots, over long distance really sucked. TC attached and it sucked even more. 60-250 got IQ back to what I wanted, but regressed AF back to times when I was using Tamron screwdrive lens.
I suppose my experience with K-3/3 paired with 55-300 PLM is what keeps me in Pentax world. Finding ways to circumvent issues SDM drive creates is cheaper then switching system and I can hope that we will get that rumored 55-300 DFA lens with fast AF drive.
Cannot say what others are thinking about K-3/3 AF system. For me it works almost perfectly for what I am doing. It just lacks middle-long telephoto lens that has AF drive capable of taking advantage of body abilities. I suppose people who want fast AF on 55-135 are more or less in same camp as my wanting longer tele.
I agree that as long as gear is delivering results it is good gear. But I do not earn money with my gear, I just do photography as hobby. Want to have as pleasant experience doing it as possible, after all I do it for pleasure. If I feel like I want to fight with gear a bit at airport edge I can always take K2 with Pentax-M 80-200 and roll of Kodak Ektar ;)

Where did I said anything about burst rates? ILIS+IBIS should be possible for Pentax. Fast AF drive in high end telephotos is possible as well as we can see with DFA lenses. I do not expect high frame rates nor subject recognition from Pentax.

It is you, not everyone is like you. I personally would love to get fast AF stabilized telephoto lens for my airshows. I can manage with film and Pentax-M telephoto if I need to, but it does not mean I do not want to take advantage of what modern technology offers.

As I am leaving today for holidays and take only film camera with me, I posted last march photo. And my summary of the month... same as always :D 20-40 is great everyday lens. Really, I think it is best DA limited that Pentax created. Not too big for a zoom, great IQ, well, great everything.
As for photos, I think I like those below most. See you all in may, when I post my scanned film ;) |

I am not sure. I have bathroom renovation planned for second part of April so lots of work with moving walls etc. Maybe I do film month, so I am not pressed into taking photos each day.
I got few rolls of Agfa Copex Rapid, so maybe I try it with new P-M 100mm Macro.

Well, I suppose she does not know what she is talking about. Sorry.
AI is over-hyped and biz is right here, but I think it will replace a lot of work places in not so far future as it will either create automation possibilities far beyond what is currently possible. That also goes for photography as in lots of cases you really don't need a photograph, just image or something but currently only way to get it is with photograph. With AI on good enough level, well, why would you bother with real photograph? when you can just type the query and refine image by some more typing.
Of course, there will be always need for reportage at least on some level etc as you want "real thing", not computer images, but stock photography, product/fashion photography will be mostly gone sooner or later, maybe some niches will remain for high price, luxury stuff as there will always be people wanting real photo of real place/item but other then this I doubt it. I wonder about "art" photography, judging by the fact that people pay millions for painting with nothing on it or some straight lines etc AI will find its way into art photography. Not replace it completely.
What will remain for sure is amateur, hobbyists photography. For people who photograph for fun, not for work. BUT... imagine prices of photographic gear on such market. Current Leica will die from envy :D

I did and I was talking about difference between 1/2 and 1/1 35mm.
Still for intended use there is no difference between half frame 35, full frame 35 and whatever bigger format you think of. In the end, after you scan and watch your image on your Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi or whatever is popular in your country half frame 35mm or full frame 8x10 inches - it will look exactly the same. There will be also little to no difference between scan + print in lab on postcard sized paper between both. Well, other then price of developing and scanning of bigger format film.
Just because you want medium format half frame it does not mean it is better for what this camera is supposed to be: cheap to use, relative good quality introduction to film for young people tight on budget.

I voted 200-300 but mostly cause I do not know what it will be. I suppose it will be quality-cheap camera: sleek modern design, relatively good, but not too good lens, body from good quality plastic etc. then it should be more or less right I think.
