Thanks guys, for these responses.
As I suspected, it appears that the state of my lens is as most others'. So I'm concluding that the FA 50mm Macro lens was actually made that way originally, and the CLAMP knob looseness is therefore not a result of wear-&-tear on my particular copy.

Hi, I see there has already been previous discussion on this topic, so my apologies if I have missed something.
I have recently bought an otherwise apparently excellent copy of this lens from Japan on eBay. My question concerns the action of the CLAMP knob. Mine rests fairly firmly/tight at the 'off' position. But once out of 'off' it rotates quite freely/loosely, with no equivalent tightness when arriving at the 'on' position (which would then assist in holding it there). As far as its clamping action goes, in MF there is indeed a discernible increase of friction on the focus ring, albeit not that great but it works. I can see that it would assist in its intended purpose, so it at least appears to be effective. Looking at some of the earliest reviews on PF for this lens, there is a suggestion that the CLAMP knob action on my lens may actually be factory-perfect. Could anyone please confirm or otherwise? Many thanks, mike (UK)

Thanks Both. I am having trouble downloading the appropriate Camera Raw plug-in. I will also try your other solutions as suggested Na Horuk.

Hi, can anyone suggest why I cannot open my K-3 RAW images (ie. PEFs) in Photoshop Elements 9?

Hi West Penn, Thanks for this prompt reply and confirmation. Not sure how I confused myself there. Just to be clear - when you say in your first line/second sentence; "..the symbol you see there", you are referring to the symbol I describe as "the Green button with +/- alongside" right?

Hi, I'm new to the Forum and still relatively new to my K-3, so still feeling my way around the settings.. I was sure that when adjusting EV-compensation (by operating the rear dial), this showed as a +/- numerical digit in the Operation guide box in the bottom right corner of the Status screen. If this is true, then very recently this has packed up on my K-3 as this box now just displays the Green button symbol with '+/-0EV' alongside. I can't quite trust my memory on this as I've not that long had the camera. Can anyone help? PS: EV-compensation adjustments still show as a numeral in both the viewfinder and on the LCD panel. Many thanks, Mike W
