:D :D :D :D
update on the repair of my D FA 150-450mm: by a local repair shop Phototronic
it is done, and at a cost of less than $300
he runs a one man shop opened only in the afternoon M-F and he is not, by his own admission, the world fastest
he advises you to keep calling him to check on the progress of the repair
he does Vintage to Digital Camera Repairs with free estimates [ he does not sell equipment ]
If you want to try him out, please call him first

That's great to hear, also it seems like they are making an earnest effort to provide fair service to their customers, which is great. Clearly they screwed up the handling of your lens and they are owning it.

This is great news. It is also what happened to me. Precision damaged my FA43 and made it much worse than before repair. After several disputes, Pentax sent me a new lens.

I really feel sorry for the OP regarding this "adventure" in trying to get this lens fixed.
As for the reply from the repair "service" ...
Best advice is to follow Aslyfox's recommendations in the preceding post and hoping this will be taken care of properly.

OMG! No where in the manual it says that happens...
Just had to send mine for warranty service for the less dramatic, but still unexpected and disappointing focus motor death. Just shooting and it stopped focusing part way through. Can't say my manual focusing skills were up to the job of catching peregrine falcons on the move... ...just hope they come back as good as new!

My response when I saw it was far more scatalogical in nature ! Best of luck getting it repaired.
