I am fairly certain there used to be a section of interviews by the forum with Pentax brand ambassadors. This is equally as interesting and I think it should also be included. Although I can no longer seem to find this section, maybe Adam would know what I am referring to.

The Ricoh GR II is now $489 on Amazon and B&H. You can get a free memory card and case from B&H. It looked like no one has posted about this yet. I am skeptical there will be a better deal on Black Friday. Ricoh GR II |

Speaking of which, have you used it for concerts? How well does the low light/high ISO performance hold up?

Currently I have a Pentax K-5 and K-3 II. Sadly, I rarely use these anymore because they are large/heavy. Originally, I bought the K-5 to use in photography classes then when I learned more I bought the K-3 II and later used it for a job. However, my photography style is very impulsive and carrying around a large bag with a DSLR and multiple lenses everywhere becomes a big hassle. I believe a GR would reignite my passion for photography as it would make it much easier to take photos everywhere I go, whenever I want. The GR II or a regular GR would be my choice. The GR III is just out of my price range, and with the GR II still available new at almost half the price it is more tempting. If the price drops even more on Black Friday/Cyber Monday, or they have a bundle deal, I will probably jump on it. I have a couple questions though.
1. Is the sensor the exact same as the K-5 or is the filterless version used in the K-5IIs and the K-01? Steve Huff's review said that it was the filterless version but I haven't seen further confirmation.
2. I have only recently learned about the dust issue that seems to be apparent in all GR models except the GR III since it can shake the dust off the sensor. Is it as widespread as it seems or exaggerated?
3. Due to this issue I am also considering the Fuji XF-10 but would probably regret it because I've always liked the GR but never owned one. How do they compare? I like the ND filter in the GR, but the Fuji has 4K video and a touch screen. I am skeptical about the Fuji processing as well, is it the X-TRANS type of sensor?

Does the logo mean that there will be official merchandise? That would be nice, also I hope the commemorative events are in more than a few cities. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Tokyo, London, New York City, and Los Angeles only.

I have been wondering the same thing, perhaps another firmware update will be released soon for the 11-18mm. I wish they could add the astrophotography red screen mode to the K-3 II. Fujifilm does a significantly better job at firmware updates than Ricoh/Pentax. Fujifilm actually adds features all the time to old models.

In regards to Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma working together on a new camera, would Ricoh/Pentax consider negotiating to join forces with another camera manufacturer on a product?
Are there any future developments in mind for the unique Astrotracer feature?
Would it be possible to add the multi-area auto white balance to video mode? This would probably be revolutionary for video.
Will there be anything special for the Pentax 100th anniversary next year?
Would Ricoh/Pentax consider remanufacturing a version of the K1000 to capitalize on the film craze? I believe if this could be done under $200, it would sell like crazy.

I believe I may get one of the M42 microscope adapters as they are cheaper than the k mount ones. Is there a specific m42 to k mount adapter that is better than others?

I am interested in getting into basic microscope photography. I have seen many examples using tri-nocular microscopes but I am curious what other types of microscopes would work. In this video, they put an adapter on a binocular style microscope. Is the mount for binocular style microscopes a standard type mount? If so, are there other version of this adapter? Any and all recommendations welcome. If there is a separate subforum that is more relevant let me know. You Tube |

I believe it will be most difficult for them to compete with price. I remember when the K-1 released and it was at such a great price point but now with the Z6 releasing around the same price, I don't see how Pentax can keep up. I thought eventually the mirrorless hype would die down, but its clear it is here to stay now.

The Nikon Z6 is one of the first mirrorless cameras I would actually consider. It is a decent size with a good grip and an EVF with minimal lag. I like that its full frame rather than APS-C with a CMOS sensor rather than X-TRANS etc. The price point is also tempting at under $2000 USD. The flange distance is very small which should make it compatible with multiple lenses via adapter. The only problem I have with it is the 410 shot battery life. That would be a deal breaker. Nikon Z6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Body Only) 1595 B&H Photo
What do you think Ricoh/Pentax can do to compete? What features etc. There may not be enough desire among current Pentax users to have a comparable mirrorless body but it would help bring in new people to the brand. What if Ricoh/Pentax has secretly been working on a mirrorless body to release during the 100th anniversary next year? I believe this type of event/release would be the only one large enough to gain a reasonable amount of attention from the press.

#8 and #23 are my favorites, I especially like the simplicity of #23 and its a fun design with 35mm Pentax.

I believe someone should consider creating a design emphasizing Pentax's 100th anniversary next year and or Pentax forums anniversary. Will Pentax forums be 13 years old? I see that it says 2006-2018 on the bottom of the page but I thought it was older. For this design the text could read 100 years of excellence, 13 years of community, or something along the lines of emphasizing both anniversaries. I was going to create a design like this but I don't believe I have the time. Perhaps this idea would be better for next year's shirts anyway.

No, I am referring to an optimization update. The article states that the bodies I listed will need an update to be compatible. Do you believe they were referring to the previous KAF4 update instead? If that was the case then neither the K-1, K-3, or KP should have required a new update for the lens. I believe they will release an update later on for the models that didn't receive it yet.

The models I listed have not received an update. Also, on the homepage of this forum it was said that the K-3 II would not require an update so these are contradictory.

Digital Trends recently reviewed the new 50mm 1.4. The review stated that K-3 II, K-S1, K-S2, and K-50 are all compatible and will need a firmware update. I wonder where they received this information and if it is true. Pentax HD FA 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW Review | Digital Trends |
