I want to know this too as it's a good workaround. Interval shooting with focus on each shot is something I've seen before in either the manual or in a menu somewhere, but I don't remember where.
As for the other answers, well I don't have a smart phone on me. I do have a windows laptop, but the ios/android emulators present one problem or another and I can't get ricoh's app to download.
I wonder if it would be possible to mod a selfie mode into the k1 firmware. Anyone know if there's an sdk available? Depending on usability I could probably throw something together.

When shooting a selfie, I sometimes want the autofocus to go off after the timer interval expires since I'm not in the picture yet at button-push time. Is there a setting that allows you to do this? I'd rather avoid buying a remote control.
I have a K-1.

I removed some of the screws around the mount ring. After taking out the screw closest to the lever (a.k.a. the "tooth"), it started being much easier to shift back and forth. I then straightened the lever with a pair of pliers. After putting the screw back in, however, the lever was harder to move again. Although it's straight now I'm not going to use the lens unless someone has a suggestion for what could be wrong and how to fix it.

Thanks for the replies so far. I definitely won't use this lens until it's repaired--if that happens.
I wonder if I damaged it by screwing it too far when mounting it. I didn't hear the usual click for some reason and it wasn't hard to push it further. This might be because it's made of cheap plastic, which is highly malleable compared with the metal lens socket.

I got a used SMC PENTAX-FA 100-300. It's impossible to mount unless I move the metal "tooth"--I'm a photography noob and don't know what the word is--to the right to force the aperture to open. (See picture.) Moreover, this "tooth" is much harder to move on this lens than any of the other 5 lenses I own. My K-1 still takes pictures with this lens and nothing seems out of the ordinary about handling it, but I'm worried that I'll damage the electronics if I keep using it because I wonder if the shutter motor (I assume there is such a thing) has to struggle to open the aperture.
Also, I notice that the "tooth" is at a slant on this lens, whereas it is straight on all the others I own. Is that normal? Is it just a different variant of the K mount?
Should I ditch this lens or is it fine to go on using it?

After doing what you said I concluded that it's not decentered after all. I think that the "decentering" is actually an optical illusion resulting from the fact that distortions don't pick up any extra--I'm not sure what the word is--definition or detail. Looking at a stop sign straight on I can see it clearly and it's small. The same stop sign is stretched when it's at the left edge of the screen, but it's not blurry. Now, the leaves behind the stop sign look much blurrier at the edge, but that's only because they're distorted. In my pic, number 1 is at the centre, 2 just to the left and then further to the left with each (native res) crop until we see the left edge at number 7. I don't think those are blurry, just less and less defined. Do you agree?

Not sure what you mean. It was all on infinity. That quarry is half a km away from where I was standing.
I'll do that this weekend. It will serve as good evidence when emailing Irix. This particular shot wasn't from a tripod unless you count the fact that I was holding both the camera and tripod in the air to get above the grass. :)

Hopefully this is the right place to post this. I got my Irix a month ago. I'm not a pro photographer and have never owned a wide angle lens before and don't know what to expect. Here's a representation of a photo I took a few days ago. I placed three crops at the top. All 3 crops are from near the horizon at the middle of the photo.
IMO there is definitely softness at the left and right. I have a similar pixel shifted shot of this scene. Pixel shift does a good job of sharpening the middle, but it's hopeless at the left and right cropped areas.
Note that the red cross hairs show the middle of the photo, which means that horizontally it's close to the horizon. I cut the top 45% of the pic off because it's just blue sky.
What do people think? Should I send it back?

The image comparison tool was one of the reasons I bought this camera. Be aware that pixel shift is only good for a scene that is perfectly still, and even then you can get "teeth" around edges if you pixel peep really carefully. But, yeah, it does well compared with the competition. I didn't care much about slightly higher fps, 4k video or a huge lens selection, while I do like the on-board image stabilization, the pixel shift, the ease of use and other goodies like astrotracer, the horizon correction and pretty good auto settings, especially white balance. Over all the pentax flagship was a good choice for me.

They're cardinal tetras, and it's been about 4-5 months. They're very shy when they see a big scary human walking around, so the only way of getting this shot was setting the k1 to interval shooting for five minutes and hoping I got something.
