Gonna chime in real quick. Simply adding [OPEN_DEBUG_MENU] or [DEBUG_MODE EN] into MODSET.TXT didn't work for me either. But putting both did. Probably has something to do with the extra space at the end. But anyway. Create the file, on your SD card (no need to connect the camera to your computer) and add this to it:
[OPEN_DEBUG_MENU]
[DEBUG_MODE EN]
No spaces in front, no spaces behind.
Just to be on the safe side, when disabling the debug mode, I used [DEBUG_MODE DIS] on the second line, but the same debug menu came up, with the debug mode still enabled. So I just disabled it.
