Plus, there's the cool factor when you have a neck strap that has loops for film canisters. They're especially cool if you put the old style metal ones in the loops. If you don't have the elastic loops, use electrician's tape.

Original kit lens for the Pentax SF1n (1989)?

I started out with the SF-1, as a body only purchase. The local shop did have the kit, but the dealer didn't recommend it because of the lesser quality lens. I was going from manual- to auto-focus at the time, so I went for the more expensive lenses. I later bought the SF-1n, which also came body-only. Both models were a quantum leap ahead of the Nikon N4004. Nikon had yet to come out with the N6006, or the N8008, so the Pentax was my top consideration. However, the SF's suffered from slow AF, and I only kept them until I could get a PZ-1.

Blue haze on landscape shots - help?

You may want to consider a polarizing filter. As others have mentioned, UV and Skylight filters will handle some haze and "too blue" conditions, but they're not panaceas. A polarizing filter, used at the correct angle, will improve contrast, and darken the blue of the sky.

As others have noted, you're also at a great distance between the camera and the mountains. That distance enhances whatever haze, dust, etc., is in the atmosphere. The haze effect can also be amplified depending on the time of day.

PENTAX SF1N camera data back?

I owned both the SF1 and SF1n in the late 1980's. Far from looking "clunky", they had a very much modern look to them. The controls were very clean, and it took very little reading of the owner's manuals to be proficient out of the box.

The auto focus systems were very advanced, and in fact, were superior to similar Nikon models. Nikon only had the N4004 and N6006 at the time, and the Pentax was miles ahead of them. I bought mine with a couple of Pentax A/F zooms, and added from there. While primitive by today's standards, they brought me a slew of good photographs. As time passed, and the SF1's technology started to seem "old", I traded for the PZ1, both the PZ1 and PZ1n.

The attached photo is the very first I took with the SF1 (35-70mm A/F Pentax). A couple of miles from my home I saw a huge smoke plume which turned out to be a fire at a scrap tire yard. I got there in time to follow the firemen into the area. At the bottom of the photo is a tangle foot of steel belts. I liked the image, and worked with a couple of labs for a good print. This spring I finally scanned the negative, and cropped to fit a 8.5x10 print. No other edits were needed. Titled "Into The Smoke".

I've been a photographer in one form or the other for over 50 years. I got my start with an Argus C3 brick, then to a Petri FT; and finally a Pentax Spotmatic.

In the interim I've used most formats from 126, up to 8x10. I've done commercial photography, weddings and portraits, plus just about anything else that pleases my eyes.

At the peril of sacrilege, I'm using Nikon digital cameras now, but I grew nostalgic for film a couple of years ago. I added some manual focus Nikons, and a local dealer showed me a Spotmatic SP-II that was nearly perfect. I bought it on the spot, and now, I have a Pentax ES-II coming from Japan. The ES-II has always had a particular mystique for me.

I dove into autofocus with a SF-1, then a SF1n. Their autofocus was far superior to Nikon's at the time, and the SF's were then replaced with PZ's. A bit later, I went back to manual focus with a Nikon F3, then to the F5. About 8 years ago, I dumped all my film cameras for digital. Out went the Nikon F5 and N90, the Super Graphic 4x5 (field camera), Omega 45E, Mamiya 645's, and RB67's.

Last year, I decided to add film into my mix again, and I'm using a Mamiya 645 Pro TL, C330s, Super Graphic, Cambo SC, Nikon F6, FA, FE2, and then I decided to add Pentax Spotmatics for my pleasure. The SMC lenses have always been great, and are anyone's equal. A bit down the road, I'm going to add the 17mm f4. I was able to use one in the late 70's, and it's another that beguiles me.

I located a negative made with the very first shot on my SF-1. "Into The Smoke" is a most appropriate title.
