So are most lenses slightly out of focus and they do in fact need adjusting?

I am completely lost on how to calibrate my lenses. Page 63 of the manual explains it, but I am not sure I understand how to adjust my lenses. It says "adjust the value", but in relationship to what exactly? I just want the darn pictures to be in focus. ;)
Can a KP owner shed any light on this?

My kids were in a high school musical, so I decided to try out m KP at 3200 and 6400 ASO. I believe I went with a shutter of 1/250 on most of these. Used a Sigma 70-200 2.8, shot most of these at 3.5 and higher.
Not too shabby! SANDIE REVUE 2018 |

I bet you had the Yashica FX-D, the cousin to the Contax 139. Fine cameras.
For some reason, I always tend to go with something a little different than "everyone else." I've been that way with houses, cars, retirement planning (haha), and cameras.
When Contax went away, I decided to go with another brand that most everyone else didn't use. Have no idea why but I've been decently pleased.

I get what you are saying as to focusing on the face, but that’s hard to do when you are trying to get their whole body into the frame in 1/500th of a second.
I do think i will stop down to 3.2 and bump ISO to 6400 if I need to - by most accounts the KP is high ISO superb.
I also didn’t realize there was a sharp / fine function in the custom image menu.
Why would turning off Shake reduction help the cause, as someone suggested? That seems counterintuitive.
Thanks everyone ! ---------- Post added 01-09-18 at 10:32 PM ----------
All good questions! I believe I selected highest quality for jpegs. I don’t believe I changed any parameters, other than I went full Manual and just went with 2.8/3200 and 1/500 shutter.

Great feedback! I feel that I am very close to capturing some great images.
Also FYI, I’m shooting JPEG. Would shooting RAW help my cause ?

Back in the film days, I was a Contax guy. While everything was super expensive, the Zeiss optics and Contax workmanship was second to none.
My last Contax was the 167MT. What a joy that unit was. Most of the Contax line has either a leather-like or rubbery covering of the body which felt so good to hold.
I’m guessing Contax decided to fold the tents with the new digital formats, which is regrettable.
That’s when I switched over to Pentax.

Thank you! I am figuring out that you need to shoot 500 pics to come up with 20 you can actually use.

Simply put, I can capture volleyball images that I could not with the K-50. Easily shoots at 3200 ISO, super fast continuous shutter. This camera is a winner. All of these were shot with a 35-70 Tamron 2.8 AF @ 3200 ISO, 1/500. All were underexposed to freeze the action but I was able to lighten everything later.

Hello!
I spent the last two days shooting hundreds of volleyball photos. I really don’t want to download all these to my computer and go through them one by one.
Is there a way I can just find the photos on my camera that I like, save them, and delete the rest ?

Steve can you explain what the term "full frame" means? I see that term a lot. Sorry if that's a dumb question. ---------- Post added 01-04-18 at 04:50 PM ----------
Gotcha. For some reason I didn't see that lens under their Pentax offerings.

I would think this is not good for the future of Pentax. Besides Tamron, what other third parties are manufacturing lenses that will fit the Pentax?

I wonder why Sigma would eliminate such a popular zoom lens from its offerings? Seems like a 70-200 2.8 would be a staple in any sports photographer’s bag.
It appears that Sigma is slowly winding down its Pentax-capable offerings. Is that reality?

I can say this: The continuous firmware/software/update questions are putting a damper on my renewed photography enthusiasm. I have a very expensive lens, want a better camera, and now the lens seems incompatible- or at least needs some sort of updating assuming it’s available.
Meanwhile i just popped a $ grand on a camera body I can’t use.

Is there a possibility that there is no update, and that the lens will not work at all with the KP?
What a disappointment this all is! Bright and shiny new camera and my $1K lens won’t work with it!

I just bought my KP and one of my lenses and the camera don’t seem to like each other.
The lens will autofocus once, then lock up, the shutter won’t release, and the camera won’t turn off and on.
My other lenses work just fine. The lens is a Sigma AF 70-200 2.8 II Macro HSM.
It worked great with my K50. Any ideas?
