Another bright spot is that the RE mirror cylinder structure is adopted, and the lens is SR.

if Pentax could afford three levels of zoom lens - I see some logic
1.) 15-30/2.8 + 24-70/2.8 + 70-200/2.8
2.) 24-90/4 + 70-210/4
3.) 28-105/3.5-5.6 + 70-300/4.5-5.6
each group meets certain optical qualities and possibilities and does not force the user to buy something that is not necessary for him and too expensive for his style of photography

I'm surprised it took this long, but why kid ourselves? We all knew this was coming: [All images shown below were taken with the SMCP-DFA21 on the Pentax K-1]
As you can see, I have been having a lot of fun with the D-FA21mm f/2.4 ASPH Limited as well.

About time too. The optical formula of the current lens still stems from the Pentax-F 100mm F2.8 from 1987 so that's 35 years old.

I posted in another thread, but I'll put it in this dedicated thread too because it's highly relevant.
During the presentation on Sunday, they showed this comparison of the old/new lenss to illustrate the improved resistance to purple fringing. |

And better lenses in terms of speed and performance. Screwdrive AF has no place in 2022. It puts off a lot of people, it's almost ridiculed. The new 16-50 PLM and 11-18 DC are the way to go. Some great lenses like the 50-135 or the DA300 need a PLM/DC refresh.

It cost you nothing, and it's not compulsory.
I see no cause for complaint.

I just recently picked up a Lumix GX9 and several lenses to try out over the past few weeks. The main reason was the lighter weight travel kit for hikes during the day. So far, I really like the system. It is very light and great for taking on hikes. The IQ is very good and comparable to my K70. The Panasonic controls along with the touch/flip screen are easy to use. I wear reading glasses so the rear monitor works well for me. I decided that I am going to rebalance equipment by selling some of the Pentax gear (K5IIs and 10-17 Fisheye I do not use much and maybe one more lens). Going to just two battery systems to support will keep things simple. The two systems will be a great compliment to each other in my mind. Lumix GX9 for the easy day travel/hiking and Pentax K70 for low light and weather sealing when needed. I'm sure there will also be overlap between the two. The Lumix lenses I have are splash and dust proof, but the body is not.

Here in NZ getting things can take time (especially in a pandemic it seems). Pre-ordered (never done that before!) in Oct for Christmas and just shown up. I will eventually post a user review but I was so excited I had to post now!
And what a beauty it is! Unfortunately works getting very much in the way this week (will test out more thoroughly in the weekend) but my initial impressions are:- Its a bit bigger than I hoped but at least smaller than my Sigma EX 20 f1.8
- Lens cap very tight! I'm sure it will loosen up but there's no way its going to fall off anytime soon
- Manual focus feels really nice. Better than the 31 or 77, as it feels nicely damped and not loosey goosey
- Closer focusing than the FA*24 which helps makes up for that half stop difference in aperture
- Its sharp wide open! With my quick wooden fence test its even sharp enough in the corners at f2.4 (and night and day versus the FA*24 corner sharpness!)
- As expected from samples I have seen bokeh it very nice
- Contrast is good wide open too.
- Auto focus is not silent but quieter than screw drive and also its only noisy for extreme ranges of focus (like very close focus to infinity) - otherwise its actually pretty quiet
- AF calibration seems spot on (unusual for me - normally have to tweak)
- Never had a serial number as low as 0000263 !

Honestly, this is my first "flagship" camera. I've always had to be very frugal with money, I've never been able to afford the top-of-the-line stuff.
But this camera looked very, very intriguing to me. My K5-iis just bit the dust, so I was down to one working body, my KP.
Then the free battery grip sale popped up, I had just gotten paid for a couple wedding jobs, and bam... I found myself ordering.
(let me just say, I've always been peeved at the battery grip price, with the exception of the K200D which was reasonable.)
Super quick first impressions after 6 senior portrait sessions shot with it in two days. (nothing like giving it a workout a day after receiving it:
#1: The autofocus. So much better. My 55mm is really hit or miss on my KP. It has a much, MUCH better keeper rate on the K3-III.
#2: The "lock all buttons" button. I've needed this for so long. Every time I let the camera hang (on my strap) or grab it to shoot again, I roll the wheels with my fingers, or hit the joystick.
#3: Image quality is freakin' oustanding. Of course it's Pentax, so that's to be expected. But it's soooo good.
#4: USB charging: Some folks don't like this. I love it. I hated taking off the battery grip on all my previous cameras just to charge the main battery. This is great, and it charges both batteries.
Anyway, I'll go back to lurking for another month and then post some photos. lol.
Previous cameras:
K110D
K200D
K7
K5
K5IIS
KP* still in service.

This is a classic overdone shot, but seriously how could I resist? They put the boats out like that on purpose - because it looks amazing.
