It depends what you shoot at each time. For example, if someone owned the K5-II, it was reasonable if they skipped K-3 and go directly to K-3 II if they liked it.
The thing is lots of us skip one or two generation and pull the plunge whenever we feel something out there has enough differentiation that worth paying for, be it gen I, II, or III

So maybe that means you should have never bought the Mark I then.

My 'personal' pick would be:
FF DSLR? Pentax K-1
Crop DSLR? Pentax K-5 IIs
FF MILC? Sony A7Riii
Crop MILC? AnyNothing!

In manual mode, I can change the f stop on the lenses that have an aperture ring. However, the camera cannot control it. if I change the f stop, it still shoots wide open (the mechanical lever moves, but it does not work)

A snapshot from today:
Just a rose; I know! But here is the fun fact: I shot it with my defective K10D (it only shoots wide open, anyone paying $50 for such a camera?), and a promaster 28-105mm I picked on ebay a few weeks ago for $16.83 shipped! So, maybe not horrible for a picture taken in 6 sec with a $66 setup :)

Not really. However, having no camera with a Gold award in the category means DPR reviewers see shortcomings in the cameras of the group.

While I do not think it matters much, and I really doubt anyone in the market for a ~$2000 camera makes decision based on DPR roundups, I guess the scores and the recommendations are not exactly the same. If it was, they would not write the roundup and would just list the cameras in each category, sorted based on the review scores. I guess at these roundups they compare all the cameras of the year in a bigger picture and provide a comparison/conclusion which is better. The reviews are written more individually and may compare to the existing models at the time of review.
Not that I agree with DPR selections, but I guess that's the case. Hence, even 80 and 85 may both be recommended for different users.
As a side note, it's interesting how many Sony cameras exist in the final lists. If we don't believe it a Sony propaganda, that means Sony is a much more serious player each year.

Now, this picture is not one can take with a K10; they need also to be a photographer ;)

I know you'll read lots of Lexar, SanDisk and a few other names.
Another less famous brand I've had very good experience with is "Strontium". One advantage of the less known brand is less chance to get a counterfeit.

Loving Pentax as a brand does not justify running 2 systems. If you find Sony has shortcoming in some areas where Pentax shines keep the Pentax, otherwise just make the full switch.

I received a copy too, which went to recycle bin unopened. This seems a waste to me. When I have purchased stuff from their website, wouldn't they think I will do the same next time?

Does it really worth that much? I mean, the new Sigma Art 135mm is ~1200 (grey, new) to 1400 (US), just not available for Pentax!

Interesting; are the other questions in that details too? If so, that's a very good sign they intend to consider users needs/priorities in design strategy. You do not see it often enough!

I just saw this thread. If you have not made a decision, as a D500 (+ Tamron 150-600 G1) owner I may be able to answer some questions.
