Greetings!
I'm just a noob who always dreamed of becoming a photographer, but could never afford it. The best camera I ever owned was a Fuji compact digital camera - DSLRs or film photography were unreachable for a poor kid like me. When my Fuji got so old and worn that a crap phone's camera would do a better job I had to quit, and keep dreaming about getting a DSLR one day. This was 6-8 years ago or so.
Finally a month ago I borrowed a K-50 long term from a friend who had it laying around and collecting dust, with a kit lens and two old Chinon manual lenses (A zoom tele and an 50mm prime) and now I'm trying to learn the basics with them.
As such I don't really have much to show yet.
As for things other than photography, I'm a full time digital artist in the process of building up a business.
Don't expect too much activity from me just yet, but hopefully once I can devote more time to photography, and have some stuff to show I'll be more active.

I too am impressed with my K1Mark II. I had a successful shoot of the RCAF Snowbirds on Thursday. Camera handled the fast moving jets quite well. Focus was spot on. RCAF Snowbirds | Flickr |

Having been using the incredible resource that this forum represents for some time now, I decided it was time to step out from behind the curtains and show my face.
Right now, my main camera is a Canon but Pentax gear has been in my life for a long time. Among other cameras, we've had an MX, ME Super, P30 and a couple of DSLRs kicking around the house for years. Lately, I have become absorbed with mounting old manual lenses onto my Canon DSLR, sparked off by the realisation that I could make use of the K-mount stuff that we already have. As has obviously happened to many others, I began to see what else was available for silly cheap prices at the moment and I've ended up buying about 20 or so extra lenses in the past few months. Of all the things I have bought, it's the Takumars that have stood out as being really really special.
In all the time i have spent scouring the web, looking for the latest bargain, I couldn't help noticing that a certain camera body is freely available for a silly price. It's a camera that I kept seeing as a kid in the 1970s, thinking it was the ultimate. It's one I was reminded of about 15 years ago when I happened across a web page about it. I clearly remember thinking at the time "Yes, I must do something about getting one of those one day".
Now, I find that the lenses I have fallen in love with are the ones that were intended for the camera of my dreams!
The long and short of it is that I have just invested an unnervingly small pile of cash on a Spotmatic F. The plan that I didn't even know existed has finally come together!

Hi to All!
May name is Daniel, a Pentax K1000 lover :)
I have visited this forum in many occasions searching and finding really useful info so why not registering and find some new friends and share a bit of my knowledge and experience with this camera as well as to ask a few questions about using M42 mount or M mounts so I can use other lenses. There is no doubt that the ratio quality-price for smc lenses is great but I would like to shoot with some legendary lenses too.
Anyway, thank you very much all the work, comments, pictures, advices, tips, links that you all guys provide here. Keep it up!
Daniel

Hi, I shoot using Olympus MFT cameras and lenses.
As an extra, I discovered what beautiful photographs with that special touch can be made when using Asahi Pentax Takumars M42. I have to admit that because of it's rating system of each lens and versions and the dedicated contributions by it's members, it was this forum that provided the guide for me on how to select my Takumars. I proudly own now four of them and I do admire the sheer quality of them all.
Finally, I decided to apply for membership - so here I am!

Hello everyone
I am Trung, and I live in Vietnam
I am using pentax body K50, Z-5p, Mz-60, MF lens: pentax K 50f1.4, pentax K 135f2.5, ... AF lens: FA * 28-70, DA 50f1.8 , FA 100-300 silver, Sigma 70-200 HSM II, ...
I've been sticking with the Pentax K50 for 2 years with more than 20K shooting and really loved the color reproduction that comes from the pentax. I'm considering upgrading to full K1. A worthwhile upgrade to my passion.
Pentaxforum.com, the place to get more knowledge about pentax, as well as the passion of photography of people around the world, the same pentax love.
Nice to meet everyone.
Sorry for my bad english, if it makes people confused.

Hello all,
I have been lurking this forum for a while now and it has helped me tremendously in making purchases. I figured I might as well make an account since I am on here almost every day.
I am from Detroit, and I focus on street, landscape and event photography. My main cameras are my K3-II and my Ricoh GR II. Happy to be a part of this forum and connect with more people. :)

Hi. This is my first post on this forum. I'm from Poland. Please excuse me for my written language, it's not perfect ;)
I have K3II, DA 50 F1,8 and kit 18-55. Last month I bought Sigma 10-20 3.5 (I didn't use it much yet). I usually shoot landscapes, mainly in mountains. My best photos are made with kit 18-55 :) Than I tried to use 50/f1.8 for panoramas and smaller parts of landscape. and i have to say I'm happy with this lens. Now I have focal lenght from 10 mm to 55mm. I thought to myself that I would like to have something longer because I love narrower landscape photos.
I would like to spend about 420 pounds/480 euros/ 580 dollars for my new lens. I'm practically sure to buy Pentax HD DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE because I need zoom. But I need a little help from you. Do you know any lenses that could compare with this one in this price range?

Hi,
My name's Tommy.
My first camera was a Pentax spotmatic which I used during my university. but
After graduation, I stopped taking photographs, except for a brief period in the early 90's when I used a Pentax film SLR
I decided to take photos again about 5 to 6 years ago, with a pentax k-01, a quirky camera which I still adore. Also used a KS-2 and K3-ii

Hey y´all!
Live with my family in Copenhagen/Denmark, after having lived in Germany, Belarus, and Sweden.
I used Canon a lot, then sold it all when my family grew (to a Sony RX100ii, great little camera), and stumbled upon pentax by wild chance in some Sony forum, when someone complained about the crappy grips on Sony cameras.
Loaned a k70 last month, and I had one of the greatest times testing a camera in my whole life! Just everything felt right from the start, and I decided to purchase the K70 now, so far without lenses, as I do not feel the need to get a good "deal", but rather to analyze and slowly grow my gear to what I really need (mostly IQ and some specialty lenses like lensbaby for the fun of it)!
I love to travel, nature photography, and night/astro shots, soI know now that the k70 is the best deal on the market!
Looking forward to good discussions on this forum!
P.S.: If anyone comes to Copenhagen, let me know, we are on AirBNB, or just for a photo session I will always be up (the term "always" is limited to objections by my wife and son ;) )

It is there irrespective of cropping. It just looks wider when you crop.
In Lightroom for example, one click generally makes it go away. Don't know about Corel. Read the documentation about chromatic aberration.
Chromatic aberration is caused by different wavelengths (colours) bending by slightly different amounts when passing through a lens. It's physics. Lens manufacturers expend a lot of effort trying to correct it, but it's always potentially there.

Chromatic aberration is what it is called and it shows in high contrast areas of pictures and occurs even in new lenses although not as must as older designs. Stopping down the aperture will help and it can be easily corrected in photoshop. Try to avoid extreme contrast to start with, not sure what 200mm lens you have but if it's F/4 then try shooting at F/5.6 or F/8.

Hello! Analogue, digital and drone photography enthusiast here! :-) For digital I have a Sony a6000 and I’m flying with a DJI Mavic Pro (those pics you’ll find on my Flickr Christer Brandt | Flickr) For analogue work I have a lovely Pentax 6x7 with mlu, wooden grip, prism-, TTL- and a waist level finder, 105 mm f/2,4 and a 75 mm f/4,5 and a K1000 with 20, 50 and 135 mm lenses. Unfortunately I can’t get the light meter to work (need to attach the small cable to the battery holder) and a bunch of other cameras, serious (Mamiya C33) and toys (Holgas, Diana, Ami and Lubitel). I develop and enlarge on my own in a dark room at our local photo club.

Pentaxian Dad so inherited some Legacy. Main interest, underwater critter hunting and supermacro. Kinda like birding in water with a "smaller than 2X macro lens". Hoarder/barterer/seller of all kinds of lenses. DIY and repair aficionado, there's nothing that's not broken that can't be taken apart and broken...
Not many options for Pentax underwater so right now shoot some other Japanese cameras.
Mainly here for the excellent legacy lens reviews but can help with any underwater/land macro related questions.
Shot is full frame, about 5X, with Nikkor 105, TC14E and a DIY waterproofed Raynox MSN-202. |

Not sure I see much noise, but the whole picture's just not sharp, Matty, as if the camera was moving.
That shutter speed's way too low either for handheld or for people as subjects. Let's see your shots at ISO 3200, 1/200s.
Here's a picture I took just last weekend, handheld, 1/250s, ISO1600 on the K-1, no reason you can't do the same if you get your settings and technique right: |

I always start with the K-1, wait until the frustration builds then switch to the K-3.
When the weather is this cold trying to focus with your hand in a mitten is just really hard. The 1.7x really is more of a warm weather option.
