I too am older with not so steady hands and not such good eyes. I undertook the change of the green to white solenoid on my K-70. I followed the step by step instructions that where well layed out within this forum by photogem. However, when I got to the part where you need to solder the wires to the replaced solenoid, I struggled seeing and holding still enough to be comfortable enough to stick a solder iron in there. I found a local computer repair guy that did that part of the process for me. He charged me $35 to do the soldering. I reassembled the camera and it working well, thus far.

While doing a solenoid repair on my K-70 this very small plastic ring fell on my work area. I am unable to identify where it belongs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank--Greg

Recently pulled out my 7 year old K-70. It appears I have the dreaded aperture block issue. I have watched several videos and read numerous threads. I am proceeding to attempt my own repair. Based on what I've seen, It is best to go with a "White" solenoid, rather than one of the several "Green" ones. Also, using a pencil tip solder iron is a must with some very fine solder. When peeling back and reinstalling the rubber grip material, are there any tips? I.E. glue or double sided tape? Also, I tried to find the survey results regarding the DIY success's on this forum. My biggest concern is to not make a bigger mess of things. Is there any advice you experienced repair folks can provide? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your feedback.

I have a few questions regarding photos from my Pentax k-70. While in Mexico, I tried to photograph some beautiful sunsets on my K-70. The results (colors, etc) where not nearly as nice as the ones my wife got using her Apple I7 cell phone. Her blue skies and clouds where much truer color than what I got on my photos. I was shooting in Jpeg mode and several different settings. So I switched to RAW. Now I am trying to view the raw files on photoshop elements 5. I can't get the RAW files to come up. I get an error message indicating they won't open. The Image indicates "IMGP0636.PEF" Is there another RAW settings that I can open in Elements. Any thoughts and or suggestions would be appreciated. Greg

I have tried several times to update the firmware on my K-70 pentax Camera, using the directions provided on this forum. I am using a computer with Windows 10. When I get the update, it is zipped. I tried to un-zipp it and put it
and copy and paste to my camera's memory card, that I install in my computer. I then place card in camera and go to firmware. It is my understanding I should get an option to update. I don't. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong. Can someone provide a step by step instruction on completing this task. Thanks for the assistance.
