Beginner help and Troubleshooting please.
I'd like to know, step by step, how to switch Off anything that slows down continuous shooting mode, and best settings to use for this, plus saving them in User mode please.
Sometimes 'fast shooting doesn't happen in my K-5 for some reason something is holding it back and I get occasional camera freeze then have to take out the battery and replace it to fix this.
I have read something by TER-OR posted 06-05-2013, (thank you TER-OR) and now need to know how to find where I switch off Lens correction etc.
I think I have saved the basics in a User mode but does this work with different lenses? eg. one lens does not show F stop and one burst shoot I did just never appeared in my playback.
I used TAV mode.

I do need advice step. by. step. please to keep me from getting lost in the manual. I'm spending my life in there.

All the best Pentax lovers,

How do you set your own Aperture size Shutter speed and ISO (in a nutshell)?

Thank you all so much I will print all this out, I have various lenses to experiment with and I'm finding the manual has so many pages on what I'm trying to do, I'm confusing myself flipping back and forth between them. I'm twixt between how I want to shoot sunrise/sunset/moon and stars, and a local waterfall. Still very used K1000. I'll try a few different settings and hope to end up with something I'm happy to post.
You've all been a great help.

Pentax K5, what's the best way to customise your own settings for Ap size, Sh and Film speed?
Still like to use my own settings, old habits die hard, could anyone tell me in a nutshell how to accomplish this please?
Tried though I have, several times, I seem to always end up with one or the other on Auto.
I'm still becoming familiar with DSLR and leafing through page after page of the manual whilst trying to set up my camera knowing I want eg: a low ISO, a wide aperture and a slow shutter speed.
Any advice appreciated.
Am I too old school?

Manual vs Auto Focus lenses. Understanding available settings.

Can I use a Manual lens and still set to Auto focus mode?
Which settings could or should I use if switching between Manual and Auto lenses?
What's the difference between Manual and Auto focus lenses in terms of shooting a sharp image?
I currently have two manual lenses should I buy a couple of A lenses?

You have all been such a great help to me with my sometimes basic questions.

Thank you

Wow, so much to learn, I knew nothing about step up step down rings, thank you all so much for such a lot of information I haven't found any of this in the manual and will print it all out.
I'm still going through the lengthy manual and getting ready for my first shooting expedition, we are experiencing flash flooding here and I am unable to get out and about yet.
It seems a DSLR is a little box of magic with so many dials, buttons, menus, I did a lot of darkroom work years ago but it appears my new K-5 has so many settings and variables including filters, B & W, a darkroom within!
I so appreciate all your replies.

What do I need to look for for lens hoods for a K-5 with a Sigma 18-50mm Lens and a Cosina 80-200mm Lens, I'd like lens hoods for both and my searches always end up with accessories for Canon or Nikon, it's hard to find a Pentax fit for a lot of accessories. Just need a little advice please a I'm new to DSLR work.

Wow this is great to read up on and just what I need.
My interest is in slow shutter work especially waterfalls and rivers but I'm very interested in astrophotography.
On the other end of the realm I like to shoot fast surf shots from the beach.
I'll get some practise in this weekend pending the dismal weather here.
Thank you very much,
Annie.
