This is a really interesting project and hopefully everything will go well for them. A new K mount film SLR will be more than welcome and if they ever reintroduce a 6x7 I'll buy it in a heartbeat

Don't count usedphotopro out they also have a nice catalog of used film cameras. KEH has increased their film camera prices like crazy. Back in the day I bought a maxxum 9 from them for 150 excellent today is 399.

Yesterday, I went out for a walk in the city, usually, I don't carry my KP around at night but I am impressed with the results. I took the photo with the old 16-50mm f2.8 that bastard still has its charm!

What started you on the path of GAS?

I went down the GAS path on 2017. Before that I was a Minolta user, only two cameras at the time the XE-7 and the maxxum 7000. Got my first dslr on 2017 ( Pentax k-70) and everything went down the drain. I have a collection of
East German m-42 lenses between Meyer optik gorlitz and Pentacon from 50mm (domiplan) 135 mm, 500mm, 200 mm 240 mm,300 mm
and 400mm. Then I got a Pentax 67 MLU with the 55 mm, 90-180 mm, the 200 mm and 165. I sold the K-70 and bought a KP added a 300 DA* 16-50 DA*, 12-24 mm, 18-135 mm, and the venerable 18-135.

On the film side I have 3 Minolta XE-7, one Nikon F3, and two maxxum 9. The only full frame body is the D800 i got for 400 USD. I think I need to let go some of that gear to fund either a k-3-iii or a K1 ( i would love to see those m-42 east German lenses in their full glory)

I have the irix on my wishlist. Even with the 1.5 crop from the KP should be nice enough for astro.

This is a really interesting question. I am a industrial hygienist, moved from Puerto Rico to Arizona to complete my doctoral studies and after 5 years moved again to Illinois. Hopefully this will be the last time I have to move across the country. I am 31 years old and ready to grow roots and have a family of my own. Photography is a hobby that I started 15 years ago, my first camera was a Minolta XE-7 which I still use to this day. I still shoot film but for slides I rather use the maxxum 9. Got my first dslr in 2017 ( k-70) and later moved to a KP. What's funny about the hobby is that really helped me to take good images during inspections.

Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC AF performance

Yes, the list of modern glass is limited, which lens are you currently using for astrophotography? I have the 12-24 mm f/4 and the old 16-50 SMD lens. I was eyeing the f/1.8 for the extra stop of light.

Thanks, are you happy with the 11-18 DA*? I am planning to get the sigma for night scape and astrophotography. I currently have the 12-24 F/4 and the old 16-50 DA* and I'm looking for something more modern.

Hello everyone, I am interested in buying the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC. I read about it on the forums and it seems the AF performance is flaky. Has anyone tried this lens on a Pentax KP?

Thanks.

That's sad to read. Taking photos is protected by the first amendment. I can understand why can some be concerned about being taking a photo in public but still if is a public plaza you are accepting that someone might want a photo of that place. My main concern is regarding theft and assault. It will be a royal pain to buy another Dslr. Specially one like the KP that is already discontinued. The k3-3 is not my cup of tea and when need something in between the k-70/ k3-3

Thanks, how do you deal with those confrontations? I am mostly using my film camera for city landmarks but to my surprise film is crazy expensive nowadays. I am afraid that my camera will collect more dust than memories.

Doing this in a city will be a new learning curve. For some reason, I don't like to walk with a camera in the city. I cant explain why.

Angky most of my hikes I rarely see wildlife (Catalina, Sabino, chiricahua) which is sad because camera gear feels extra heavy on some trails. If you have the time visit the wetlands in Tucson, you will always find something there.

That's a beautiful heron shot. How is the 150-450 + k3-iii working for you? I have the KP and I am on the fence between getting the 150-450 or just buying the k3-iii and use it with the 300 DA* + teleconverter.

Is a game of odds, they are usually shy and move really fast. I have seen them at least twice in Arizona.

Yes, makes me wonder how many times they are but we just can't see them.

Is it possible for Pentax to digitalised some vintage cameras?

It would be excellent if Pentax could manufacture a fully manual dslr. If they ever crowdfund one, I'll be more than happy to give them my hard-earned cash. A body similar to the spotmatic with a digital sensor will make me happy.
