Actually that is just the zoom ring getting rotated while I try to rotate the focus ring with one hand. Nothing uncommon here.

Thanks for the replies. Since it is a very cheap copy I got (40€ only), I’ll do some aggressive actions like exercising the focus ring just to see if it works. For reference, I have uploaded one video to show the problem to all. Tomorrow I’ll also take it to local camera shop to get an opinion for repair.

Hi everyone,
I got myself a second hand defective Pentax DA* 50-135 lens. I found out that the focusing ring won’t focus the lens manually. Also the automatic focus won’t work which clearly is the famous SDM fault but this manual focus thing seems strange to me. Do you think it can be easily repaired? The SDM issue can be resolved by the usual screw drive installation thing through pk tethering but I want to know about the focus ring issue. Kindly help. Thanks

Hello there,
I am trying to disassemble a Pentax FA 28/2.8 lens. It is in excellent condition and takes amazing photos. One issue that bothers me is the very tiny streaks of fungus on the front element.
I successfully retrieved the optical block from the lens housing however the front glass element seems to be impossible to be detached. I mean, I can rotate the front glass element on the block which means it is not glued but housed on the block. But even using soft scotch tape to hold it by its large surface area, I cannot pull it out.
Does anyone have an idea how I can remove it to clean it?

Hello pentaxians,
Please hold your horses as I am going to ask a question definitely should not be likeable by any of you.
Once I dropped from more than a meter high the Pentax FA 50 mm f1.4 lens which was having a cheap UV/dust protection filter mounted on it. The latter was the only one to break (apart from my own heart as well).
But fortunately, the lens survived and not only just survived, it stills works as before.
The only effect of felling down from this height was that I can now see lots of dust on the inner side of the two optics (I think two but can't be sure).
I do understand that if this dust is not hurting my photos, there is no need to think of cleaning the optics but just curiosity is if there is any chance these optics can be cleaned in any possible way?
Any help? I will share photos tomorrow of these optics.
