Dear alfa75ts + boriscleto + aslyfox...
Thanks for the information you have shared with me. I received today the wiha Phillips set and the +000 has allowed me to get rid of the long flange.
I have learned something new and it has opened me new possibilities for buying old lenses,
best regards,
armel

being a new member, I'm not allowed to vote this month. I would pick an emotional (even a bit disturbing like #1), poetical... one which could be a support for a wandering imagination : #1, #5, #8, #12

Dear alfa75ts/Craig, Thanks so much for your precise information. I just ordered a set. It should arrive beginning of January. This set is very much praised by users. I'll keep you informed of my progress,
Once again thanks for the help, I never thought to be able to unscrew any zoom part, but with the right tool...
best regards,
armel

Dear alfa75ts and boriscleto,
You helped already a lot, but when searching on the internet, there are many precision screwdrivers made in japan. Are they all JIS ? Some sets are
for phones, photography (50 pieces or more !)...Are they suitable in my case ?
Anyway the type +000 seems very rare in those sets. Do you have a specific brand + name of the set, so I can find the same ?
thanks,
armel

Bonjour Czechnotpolish,
Leaving your Correze house was a "survival" decision, food is too good there and consequently bad for health+ cholesterol+...=))
I have visited a friend who mounts all kinds of brands on his Sony alpha, using rings and sometimes cutting pieces at the rear or modifying them ! I understand that it is also possible in the Pentax world, but as I have not an expert's confidence, I move very cautiously. Of course, if I buy a useless prime/zoom I can resell it later, but I'll try to avoid such a frustrating experience. Furthermore, old primes/zooms are not so expensive.

Aslyfox,
very informative link (+photos of mounts), thanks a lot,
armel

alfa75ts,
Good link. The article says 1) remove the flange 2) reduce it. Is it necessary to reduce it ? May be the correct mounting happens only after removing the flange.
Is the flange a (really) useless piece of metal ?

Aslyfox,
Thanks for the information, you write about an "image to the left" showing the shield, it doesn't seem to be attached to your message,

Thanks Boriscleto,
The rear black part sustaining the long flange has only 2 screws. I'll do as you suggest : buying JIS screwdrivers. They do not seem very common (except for motorcycles !) for precision work. Someone suggests importing from Germany or Japan, but how to be sure of the right size ?
Anyway thanks a lot, I'll keep you informed of mu success (I hope),

Hello,
I wrote above that the rear cap of the pseudo Vivitar 70-210mm K mount had PK wrote on it. That's also true of the rear of the zoom, close to the red dot, in red letters one can read P/K.(see attached photo)
Thanks,
armel

Thanks Boriscleto,
You write "the long flange can be removed without any problems". This seems a bit scaring to me. Without going into details, could you roughly describe the steps to remove this piece of metal ?
Thanks,
armel

Hello,
On the joined photos, we can see the classical flange (2cm?) of a PK mount (Carl Zeiss Jena 70-210mm). I recently bought a Vivitar Japan 70-210mm with a so-called PK mount (that's what the rear cap says). The flange is 3-4cm long. In both cases, there is a mobile piece, this one being not exactly the same size in both cases.
1-Is there a ring allowing this pseudo PK zoom to be considered as a true PK mount ?
2-If not, a friend suggested to "reduce" the size of the flange : unscrew the black rear part to separate it from zoom, put it in a convenient place to reduce it (dremel, file...). I confess the 1st solution would be better.
3-Does someone know the name of a camera which accepts that kind of pseudo K-mount ?(the thread suggests a Konica mount, but which Konica camera ?)
thanks,
armel

Hello,
User of Pentax K-m and K5-II (plus sleeping P30 and MZ 50), I'm always happy to learn something new on how to best use them : interested now by proxy/macro for small objects/plants/insects, trying also to understand all possibilities of mounting old/exotic/foreign prime/zooms using rings. I hope to be able to share infos on these subjects,
regards,
armel, close to Lyon, France
