Had to look up, Robin Perry, the photographer in the article. He passed away in 2005. Looks like he had a full life, was a Veteran, POW who escaped in WWII.

Pentax 6x7 150mm f2.8 Kodak Ektar 100

After putting on dual custom grips on my "new" 6x7 last year, I finally started using it. Used my 1965 Chevy for practice.

Must have been fun getting up close to such a massive creature. Reminded me of this shot I found on the internet years ago.

38 years ago tomorrow, July 22, 1980, my Dad was on a Wien Air Alaska Jet from Seattle to Portland, when Mt. St. Helens blew her top again. The first better known eruption was May 18, 1980, a couple months earlier.

He had his Pentax ME, and was able to get some shots of the event.

This is the money shot IMHO. I love how the wing looks like it is flying into the ash cloud.

6x7 Dual Custom Grips

I had Snapu, the seasoned custom right hand grip maker for these cameras, make me a custom grip for the right hand side out of the super dark wood which will cost you extra;)

And I liked it so well I convinced him that a grip could also be made for the left hand side, using the right hand side metal plate, though he came up with the final solution knowing how the locking bracket would not work by flipping the plate over. The left hand grip does stick out a bit more due to that side of the camera not being as wide as the right. It doesn't bother me and I love how the black wood looks and the camera looks better balanced aesthetically to me, along with being able to hold the camera better with the left hand when needed.

The metal plate that attaches to the wood is silver, and I used some black 3M tape on the exposed parts of it to give it a better final look IMHO.
I use a wrist strap made out of Paracord 550 mounted to the tripod socket for that extra protection, and I can also let the weight of the camera be on my arm and not the fingers while carrying it this way.

The factory left hand grip looks good, yet I wanted to have it done this way as an option.
Next time, I will have him make both, at the same time to get them even closer in appearance.
Snapu makes a great product and I really appreciate him doing this for me and having patience with all my back and forth emails for the last month!

Thanks, not sure why there is no option for you to like my post, it doesn't give me the option on my own posts that I see, not that I would vote for my own posts, so you don't see a thumbs up icon on my posts either?

---------- Post added 02-15-18 at 11:29 AM ----------

I have a wrist strap made from paracord 550 mounted to the tripod slot. I can also fasten a neck strap there, but I prefer the smaller form factor of the wrist strap on my cameras.

Asahi Pentax: Go Big Or Go Home

Short back story to help some understand my post:

Asahi Pentax did some tv commercials in Japan back in the 1960's with the Asahi Pentax Camera girl.

You Tube

Artist Tom Mayer paid homage to that commercial by designing this fantastic illustration. "Honda N600 Rally Kei Car With Japanese 60's Asahi Pentax Commercial Girl" Wall Tapestries by Tom Mayer | Redbubble

You can get it put on many different items, as for me I went with a t-shirt first, then went BIG and used it to cover my projector screen when not in use. Something different than the white screen on the wall. I built my home theater screen years ago, and its around 116" diagonal, 16x9 ratio. The large wall tapestry was the perfect size for me to build a lightweight screen to mount it on, and then cover the projector screen with it. Final dimensions are 101"x 78"! It looks fantastic in person. I am not affiliated with Tom or any of the sites that sell his products.....super cool of him to come up with the idea, as the illustration captures the car details and girl down to the smallest details that are found in the old tv commercial.

Are you ready to go BIG or go home? :D

I like both the color and B&W of the same shot, gives a whole different mood with each, and the third shot, the cloud looks like a giant creature opening up to feast:D

Just saw this online, man they should put all of it in a museum. Pristine copies of everything.
I have nothing to do with it, just thought it was an awesome thing to look at all of the photos being a 6x7 fan.
