A quantitative way to find both your effective film speed and find your BW development time. For years I've used a hack of converting a Pentax one-degree spot meter into a densitometer. But this X-Rite 301 is more accurate and a snap to use by comparison.

To my western eyes, that camera is perfectly hideous but it's important to remember that in many Asian cultures, red is a color associated with good fortune, which may be what the seller is trying to reap by asking such an exorbitant price for it.

There are quite a few very old Honeywell and Asahi Pentax 6x7 cameras in non-working order lining the displays of antique and second hand dealers in the country. Passed through two towns last week (one of which I lived in for 12 years) and the specimen there (Asahi Pentax 6x7) in an 'antique and old wares store' locked glass case, looked like it has been exhumed from the grave! He wanted $300 for it (I thought to myself $3.00 would be more reasonable...). Dented, dinged, rusted, busted and missing the wind-on lever, a scratched and filthy mirror and abraded lens mount, he had no idea what sort of lens fitted it (!), and suggested blithely "...any snap-on lens you can find should fit...". Antique. Real antique (the dealer, I mean! ;)). That fleeting experience had me stroll back to the car and give my super trooper P67 a hug. :o

Ricoh should re-visit the 67 and issue a digital version. That would flabbergast the mirrorless MF fraction.

Congrats and I look forward to seeing more, @Blasst

Playing around with my view camera. I used a window with a nylon sheet over it. Some window framing artifacts showed up through it however. It takes me forever rotating and tilting standards over-and-over trying to get everything in focus with a 180mm focal length.

Pentax 67 - little switch with "M" written on it on right side.

The OP has long-gone, but this information could possibly be made into a Sticky here on Pentax Forums for the reference of other members who find themselves with this "...unusual silver switch with M for Murder? on it..."

The switch is a Pentax factory-modification to enable the camera to make multiple exposures – no limit!
It is a fairly rare feature (my camera has it, and I am sort of addicted to "overlaying" exposures for creative effect), and much valued on those cameras that do have it.

The modus operandi of the 'ME' swich is thus—

1. Compose and fire the camera, but do not wind on.
2. Push down the button so that the M is showing
3. Make the next exposure, and if no more exposures on the same frame are required, return the swich so that the M is hidden
4. Wind on the film.

I thought I'd toss this quick and dirty scan into the mix. I have a lot of negatives that have not had any particularly careful storage, and they all seem to have held up OK. Faded prints are more of an issue.

This is a colour negative of some 116 Safety Film I scanned a year ago in Vuescan using default settings, no post processing on this so you can see the dust and scratches.

This was shot in the spring of 1972, on my grandfathers Kodak Autographic 1A Junior when I took a photography class in junior high school, professionally developed through Super S Drug Mart, which would have sent it to an unknown lab.

Just an interesting curiosity.

Trying out my recently repaired ZX-5n autofocus, autoexposure 35mm film SLR. I got the camera for US$36 on ebay in 2015, including an FA 28-80 lens, a Tamron AF 80-210 lens, red 25A and yellow filters, and Vivitar 102 flash, with everything working and in great cosmetic condition. The camera worked for a couple rolls, then the mirror stopped half way up. I thought it was the dreaded mirror gear problem, so put it away in a box for a future consideration, and contented myself with several other Pentax film SLRs. I've been studying posts here and elsewhere on how to repair, but it seemed more challenging than I was prepared to tackle. Then I decided to take a chance - I emailed Garry's Camera here in Illinois - do you think you can fix it? He said he'd take a look. I mailed it off over the Christmas holidays. He took it apart, said it was a broken mirror lever, ordered a part and fixed it as part of his CLA cost. Turn around time including shipping was about 3 weeks, over the holidays. Everything seems to work so far.

Shown with the battery grip FG attached, along with a Pentax FA 28-90 AF lens, Tamron 80-210 AF lens, Pentax-A 50mm F1.4 MF lens, Pentax AF200T TTL auto flash, and my new Peak Designs quick-release strap mounts. It's loaded up with TMAX 400 for a trial run.

I decided to send it to Home-Pentaxs
While the camera itself is not really worth anything, it is too me. I have some good quality lenses for it.
Nice black and whites by the way.

Two night time shots from Sadang in Seoul

Z and 28 - 45

Sadang after dark by singingsnapper, on Flickr

An old guy who stank of soju decided he would grab my tripod. I didn't understand much of what he said, though he appeared to be trying to tell me I wasn't allowed to take photos where I was. He eventually grabbed my hand explaining that male friends often hold hands (in Korean, I got the gist of what he said, and he was right as many Korean men of all ages hold hands -there are subtle differences between the way the fingers are positioned between lovers holding hands and friends). He wanted to take me to a 'Norebang" or Karaoke bar. I managed to get away...
