We were in Australia 5 years ago, from Canada. I was in awe every single day during our vaca. Can’t wait to get back.

Thank you for the info.
I may have to look for a used KP.
I did send the problem to Pentax Europe, I’ve had good luck with them in the past.
A ticket was created and a promise of future correspondence.
Great shot!
Where was it taken?

Thanks for the support!
The advice of buying one from Amazon while one is available in camera doesn’t sit well with me.
Thanks again.

Really?
The KP allows bulb mode in combination with the intervalometer?
Does the KP have 2 modes for bulb like the K1?

Sent this to Pentax, response below.
This brand is dropping the ball.
Dead ends.
How about forwarding my inquiry up the chain to research and development to encourage a firmware update.
Listen to your customers!
Don’t send me to a third party for solutions! WTF!

I would like to take 2 minute exposures through my guided telescope. I need 10 to 20, 2 minute filtered exposures. I can use bulb but have to shoot each shot manually or with 2second timer. I can’t set up the Intervalometer to space each exposure by 5 seconds for 10 to 20 shots at 2 minutes of exposure time. The Intervalometer icon is gone when in bulb. If ever an Intervalometer is needed, it would be for this scenario. I now have to buy a third party external Intervalometer for this to work. Can this much needed feature be made available while in bulb mode through a firmware upgrade to the K1?

Dear Jeff,

Thank you, for contacting Ricoh Imaging.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your past, present and future support.

What you need is an external intervalometer compatible with your camera.

Pentax does not make one.

I am just using Amazon to show several examples of what could suit your needs.

Amazon.ca : external intervelometer for Pentax

Thank you,

Number of focus points can muddy the waters.
Are you in continuous mode?
Although hard to predict, you have to be quick, a technique I use is to focus on a part of the field that the play is approaching, sit there focused, then as the play approaches, fire away!
Areas in front of the net are a good place to concentrate on.
A throw from the side line usually gives you some time to see who will be the recipient of that throw. Concentrate there, when the ball enters, fire away.
I’ll get more keepers this way than trying to hunt the player.

Funny you say that, I was torn with the aperture number.
Do I go smaller to try to get all icicles in focus while increasing the presence of the background or keep it somewhat wide open to blur the background?
Not to mention the branch stretched out over the water just off shore.
Not a lot of room to manoeuvre.
Guess it pays to cover the bases and try both next time.
It’s digital, the worst that happens is the delete button gets a tap.

Went looking for wildlife, instead came away with icicles.
All in all a good day to capture one photo.

Another way I shoot on the water is with my Vibe Sea Ghost kayak.
I use a Gitzo carbon fibre tripod, Pentax smc a 300mm F2.8 & K10.
Not sure about taking the K1 on a voyage just yet.
Everything is tethered to the kayak and will not hit bottom, except my stomach, if I flip.
I stick to calm waters such as a marsh or a lake with no waves that looks like glass.

You are right.
All through the day this species paddled by, flew by or swam by out of sight in pairs.

No I do not have the 150 to 450.
To tell you the truth, I’m a little gun shy on new Pentax glass.
I have two sdm zooms that I’ve converted to screw drive. Thanks to everyone on this forum for the info in solving this problem!
I went to a camera show in Toronto sponsored by Henry’s.
I talked to Pentax at the booth, and the two gentlemen there, laughed at how I won the 1 in a million sdm failure lottery. Only I wasn’t laughing after the money I dropped on the glass.
I’m sure everyone on this forum feels the same way about sdm.
Getting to your question, the 600 does focus quickly, stays on target but if it hit the island with all the trees across from me, then a little hunting occurred. Can’t complain, been with Pentax since 1986 and all of my glass works well with the K1.
If the K1 had faster FPS and a faster buffer, it would be perfect!
