The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter ALDER waiting patiently for winter to end to begin breaking the ice.
ADLER is a 225' multi-mission buoy tender homeported in Duluth, MN. ALDER's primary missions are aids to navigation, ice breaking, law enforcement, and search and rescue. ALDER also performs missions such as marine environmental protection and port security and safety. ALDER is primarily responsible for Lake Superior and upper Lake Michigan, but operates throughout the Great Lakes.

We had just gotten a couple inches of snow and it was still falling lightly. I happened to look out the bathroom window and saw this bright red cardinal sitting on a branch in perfect contrast to the snow and green pine needles. I had to quickly and cautiously get my camera, remove the window screen, and snap the picture before he flew away. I was worried I'd scare him off. Thankfully he was comfortable and remained where he was.

Thank you everyone for your help and excellent answers! :)
When I first tried holding down the +/-Av button, nothing happened. I was expecting the aperture motor to do something but it didn't.
This morning I gave it a try again and this time it did exactly what it was supposed to do (what you were all describing). So I don't know if it was operator error or what. But it looks like it's working correctly. :D
