Hi Arvid,

No...I was not! Thanks for pointing this out. I'm assuming the CCD detectors are too small to record the whole image except for the K-1? More to think about...makes the K-1 a very desirable body then...
Best,
Mike

Hi Peter,

Thanks for responding...I'm considering spending up to $500 USD for a Pentax DSLR body, and to afford at least a mid-grade, I'm looking at used equipment...I'm glad I found this site as it has a marketplace. I've bought/sold on a similar astronomy marketplace and have had good experience with it. So this is great as I'm loyal to the Pentax brand.

Thanks and Best Regards,
Mike

Hi All,

I'm new to this site and thinking about entering the world of DSLR photography and I want to buy a mid-grade DSLR body to use with my old SMC Pentax-A lenses from the old film SLR days (LX and ME super). From reading different sites I know that they will attach and that the automatic aperture control will work, but I'd like to know from experienced users any tricks of this trade.

When looking at available features and pricing...I was thinking about going with the K-50 as a mid-grade "non-throw away" DSLR body (I can't afford pro-grade stuff) to use with a newer autofocus lenses and to be able to manual focus with my old SMC Pentax-A lenses. Any advice along these lines will be much appreciated.

Best Regards,
Mike

Hi All,

Mike here from beautiful Knoxville, TN.

I'm new to this forum, been using Pentax cameras and binoculars for several decades, not a professional, just a hobbyist, although I do have much experience with telescopes and accessories. I need some advice regarding Pentax DSLRs.
