I feel the need. The need to.... simplify.

Since I changed systems from Mamiya and Phase One back to the Zed. It became quite obvious to me the need for a second system was not required, so my extensive Fuji X series kit has gone, I’ve kept the bodies, as I still like the firm factor and I have a thing for keeping things. Should I get too decrepit to carry the medium format kit in the field, I can always buy a couple of Fuji lenses.

The Zed ticks all the boxes for me, I can shoot quite happily hand held, has great ISO performance, and a good selection of great glass.

FWIW, my pack of choice has been F Stop, I’ve had a Loka UL for 3 years, carried my MF gear as well as tripod, water bladder, spare clothes with ease. It’s been on long mountain days and has been perfect. I’ve just upgraded to a Tilopa, and find the build quality bomb proof. I was thinking of going to a mindshift bag, but decided to stick with what I know. You won’t believe how much you can pack into this bag. My bag when loaded up can be 20 kg, and at no point does it ever feel uncomfortable. They are well worth the money, plus you can vary the size of the ICU to hold as much or as little camera kit you need for the trip.

I’m finding the 80-160mm, is a good portrait lens, however If I was a portrait shooter I’d plump for the 150 mm F2.8 and zoom with my feet.

Hi
No wobble on my 45-85 FA, brilliant lens my favourite. I use the NIsi filter holder and have had no issues with lens movements using this. I have moved over from Mamiya 645 and I would say the Pentax lenses are as good if not better. I wouldn’t worry too much if the images are sharp, across the plane.

Recently Went over to New Brighton on the Wirral, to capture the ferocity of Storm Eleanor. It was a tad windy.

A hello from me, moved to Pentax 645z from Mamiya 645df phase one back. Thoroughly enjoying the Zed. Lenses are brilliant. An awesome sensor. Will get some images posted.

Cheers All

Nick
