Yikes! Please don't even joke around like that. Can you imagine? What a sad proposition.

How did you get such a sharp picture from the K-5? I've never been able to get that level of detail from any photo from my K-5. I'm tempted to believe there might be something wrong with my camera. But it's probably just me. Thanks for sharing an awesome picture!

I have so much to learn. I have to fight the urge to blame the equipment. I see others capturing great images with their Pentax K-5's. I know what's possible. I don't like this Image much but figured I'd start posting anyway (admittedly due, in part, to the K1 giveaways) Hopefully with feedback like this, I'll start to improve. Thanks for the honest feedback, it helps!

For the minimum post counts for the K1 giveaway, do we need to do new thread posts? Or do replies on other threads count towards the required posts?
Thanks!

Very nice shot! Do you have any advice for beginners about shooting into the sun? Did you do some tone adjustment or something to bring out the orange? It looks great!

I think all these posts about simply modifying the shutter button are missing the point. Besides, the modification was mentioned in the original post already. I think this is an important feature and it would be smart for Pentax to listen. I have occasional soft focus issues and never even thought about my finger hitting the camera body. I'm going to play around with this and see if it makes a difference for me. Thanks Kombivan!

I think it all depends on the price. If it's cheap enough, it might be worth the risk. If it's used and 75% the cost of a new one, forget it.

Of course this is getting a little absurd but I'll take a stab at the question. First, lets get the definition of the word. Definition of photography : the art or process of producing images by the action of radiant energy and especially light on a sensitive surface (such as film or an optical sensor)
I absolutely agree that equipment can improve your photography. I'll take the extreme case to prove my point. Imagine that you have no equipment whatsoever. How good is your photography? Not your unrealized potential, but the quality of the actual photography? Not very good.
Now add a camera. Now you can do better. You can actually take pictures. I'd say an improvement in your photography.
Adding a new lens will open up new possibilities for photography. Thus making an individual capable of producing "better" photography. But, maybe this is where the confusion lies. It is not the equipment itself that makes the photography better. It is the fact that the equipment is necessary for photography that makes it "better". It kind of opens the door. The photography will either benefit or suffer dependent on the photographer. I spent way to much time thinking about this. What does "better" even mean in art? Who is judging? The nice thing about better equipment is you can always turn it down or somehow put limitations to serve the photograph. On the other hand, it is kind of difficult to make lesser equipment better.
I don't know. I guess it comes down to how you think about it. I can kind of see both sides. But, to be clear I don't think the equipment itself improves the photographer. Just the photography.

Luckily cleaning the contacts and letting it sit on the camera while turned on for a while brought it back to life! I was very happy about that. I still have some focusing issues with the K-5, but I don't think those are related to the stuck SDM on the DA* 50-135.

Yeah, the people around were very interesting to me. I tried to step back and capture the real scene. Being my first time, it was very exciting and I had a hard time capturing the experience. It was lots of fun with the family. :)

I like it very much. My only critique, if I were forced to critique is, perhaps, a lack of focus or focal point. I feel it might lack a central character or thing that should be the center of attention. Does that make sense?
But then again, a lack of central character gives it appeal of a different sort. I don't know. It's cool and I like looking at it so thanks for sharing.
I love a bit of clouds.
