Skyfire - The night this photo was made I witnessed the best sunset I've seen all year. I'm also still learning how to use the ultra wide Irix 15mm f/2.4 Blackstone Lens. I went to one of my regular sunset haunts for this photo, and I thought it was a tossup as to whether or not the sunset would be good based on the weather I saw outside my house - not a cloud in the sky. And it was dull until the last few minutes. The trouble I had as the sky exploded into a fiery sunset was composing a shot without a lot of extra tree limbs and bushes in frame. This lens is making me think about composition more than any other lens I've ever used. I think it will, over time, make me a better photographer. A slower photographer.

I agree with several other of the responses here. ISO 3200 is as high as I go with a K-70 and a K-1. Both perform well at ISO 3200, but even so, I have to do significant noise reduction in post.

Glad you didn't have to send it off! I'm going to follow this thread if you have any updates. I'm a happy K-70 owner since February. The only trouble I've had with mine is occasionally the shutter will not actuate when I'm in timer mode. I still haven't figured out why it's doing that, but it only happens on rare occasions.

Thanks. I knew the Pentax K-1 was my ultimate choice, but when I got my K-70, I was blown away with the quality and dynamic range. I was sold on Pentax with it, and I'm just learning with the K-1. ---------- Post added 08-06-18 at 08:50 AM ----------
Thanks Mark. I'd love to bring them to New Zealand and stay for five years. It's on my list of destinations, and shares the top of that list with Iceland. Of course, I've got a lot of country left to discover in the U.S. as well. ---------- Post added 08-06-18 at 08:51 AM ----------
Will do, and thanks!

I just wanted to say hi to everybody here. I'm a proud owner of a Pentax K-70 (purchased in February 2018) and a Pentax K-1 (purchased this week). I was a former Canon user, and after my 7D went down a few years ago, I went without a camera, largely because I had this strange belief that I needed to spend a ton of money to have a camera that met my needs. Then I discovered Pentax. How did I not know? Ignorance. But know I do.
Lenses:
HD Pentax-DA 21mm f/3.2 Limited
SMC Pentax-DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited
HD Pentax-DA 70mm f/2.4 Limited
Irix 15mm f/2.4 Blackstone
Attached are some of the photos I've made with my Pentax cameras.
