Hi all,
I continue to tinker with 3D printed camera accessories, I thought my latest creation might interest some here. I've made the design freely available on Thingiverse: Tamron - Pentax 150mm Filter Holder by Arachnorchis - Thingiverse
It's a large 150mm filter holder, notably it has:
Option to attach hinged "barn door" style hoods (I'm calling them petals), or sliding ones that can be removed/replaced instantly.
Allows full 360degree rotation.
Lens mounts are replaceable, mounts can be easily modified to suit different lenses.
Currently have mounts for the 15-30mm 2.8 and DA 25mm f4 645 lenses.
The goal was to create something that rivals the mass produced alternatives in terms of basic function, that can be made for a fraction of the cost.

Thanks to all those that have contributed. I've attached an image of one of the first photos I've taken with the new setup. Apologies for the delay, had to abruptly travel away for work for the last 5 weeks.
As always, happy to hear opinions on how I might improve the light, I'll be back to tinkering with this over the next couple of weeks.

Hi all,
Looking for some inspiration! Macro flash diffusers must be one of the most common DIY projects that photographers undertake. Everyone has their own ideas as to what makes an ideal diffuser, I'd like to see yours/hear your thoughts!
I've been tinkering with 3D printed diffusers for a while now, I'd like to try and perfect the design more.
I've attached a few photos of what I've been working on-
Flash mounts are interchangeable.
Option to mount Lume Cube as a focus assist light.
The smaller diffuser is for my brothers micro four thirds setup. I found it too short for my Pentax DSLRS so designed something a little longer to overcome the prism hump/longer lens of my setup.

I already own a ring flash, it's not often ideal IMO.

Well, here's my macro flash diffuser version 1.0. I found a "C Bracket" that a bought a few years ago, I'm not sure what I intended to use it for but it seems to work well here. I 3D printed a cradle for the flash with a tripod thread on the bottom to attach to the C bracket, and of course a new (smaller) flash diffuser to match. Included some attachment points for straps on the cradle to fasten the flash, it's not very elegant but it seems to fit all the flashes I have lying around well enough. Will test it out a little tomorrow, if it goes well I'll refine the design further.
Any thoughts on the current iteration?

Cheers, it’s been a lot of work! ---------- Post added 10-11-18 at 07:17 PM ----------
Rob’s correct, the model is just a touch under 200x200mm. Resolution shouldn’t be a concern, as long as you’ve got a heated bed and a build enclosure you should be able to print one of these on the da Vinci.

I've been playing with diffusing my AF160FC, initially trying to diffuse the flash as it sits naturally on the front of the lens. I had difficulty getting any meaningful diffusion, without impairing functionality. After seeing an image of a pentax user mounting his ring flash directly over the top of the lens, I thought I'd give it a try. So, I designed and 3D printed a custom diffuser. On the off chance someone here would like to give it a go, I've put the 3D files up on thingiverse Macro ringflash softbox diffuser for Pentax AF160FC by Arachnorchis - Thingiverse
I'm still playing with different diffuser materials, but I'm happy with the results I've got so far.

Hi all,
Firstly, long time reader- first time poster. Pentaxforums has been a great source of information for me over the years, many thanks to all those who contribute, now it’s my turn!
I purchased the 15-30mm some time ago and was keen to get a 150mm filter system for it. Owning a 3D printer, I decided to design my own. I have no background in engineering/design/CAD software, so this has been quite a long-winded exercise for me. I still have some tweaking to do, but I’m happy with what I have so far, so I’d like to share it with you all.
Not only did I want an adapter to mount to my 15-30mm, I wanted something that could mount to virtually any of my Pentax lenses, and I suppose this is where my adapter differs in comparison to other systems I’ve seen. That would enable me to get more value out of the filters, especially with my polarizing filter, that has potential uses on multiple lenses.
The first photo is of the basic guts of the adapter mounted to the 31mm limited. There’s a set of mounting “half” rings that are clamped over the lens with an M10 bolt on either side to secure. They’re held in place on either end with a pin, a spring between them keeps the ring open, to easily slide it over the lens. I have picked up the 15-30mm's 1kg of bulk by just gripping the adapter, it secures quite well.
It takes just a minute to adjust the diameter of the mounting rings in software, and I can have a set printed in a couple of hours. The whole thing would take perhaps 10 hours to print, and cost several dollars in material.
At the top of the large outer ring there’s four M4 threads, to bolt the shroud and filter mount to. Second image is the fully kitted out adapter attached to the 31mm (note there’s a secondary shroud attached that fills in the gap for the small 31mm, the main shroud was designed for the 15-30mm- the widest diameter lens I own). I've covered the internals of the shroud with an adhesive felt to block reflections (effective material but the adhesive is weak, I'm working on alternatives). I've also attached some images of it mounted to the 150-450mm and 15-30mm.
Questions/comments/critiques welcome.
