Finch Feeder

On a sunny July afternoon, I shot a few Gold Finches darting about a thistle bush. You can imagine my delight when I reviewed the shots at the end of the day and found this series of frames. I hope this makes you smile, or maybe a little bit hungry.

Cassin's Finch spotted in Wisconsin

According to The Cornell Lab the Cassin's Finch is a southwestern bird. So, when I spotted a couple of them in the Bong Recreation Area in Kenosha, Wisconsin I was glad I had brought my K-1 with the 300mm lens.
I didn't get to take many pictures in 2023 as I was receiving chemo and radiation treatments after cancer surgery, but this shot was just about all I needed to make my year.

There was some bad weather moving in when I decided to go out and try my new 31mm lens. The state recreation area was deserted and I took advantage of it. Hope you like the results :)

I took this shot from my front yard as a major storm blew in from the north in August of 2015 with my beloved K-5. Which was a great enough camera, at the time, to get stolen from me.
Hope you enjoy the photo.

Very nice work.
Interesting to see the sky and water actually become more blue with the wider lens setting. And, yes, I find the "Vibrant" color setting a bit too much for my taste.
Looks like a great lens. I ususally shy away from the zoom lenses, but I've been looking for a wider lens. This may be one for me to try. Thanks for your submittal.

Horicon Marsh, WI is a summer home for many migratory birds. I just had to capture the full color of this Blue Heron. Other than a bit of brightening, these are the true colors of the bird.
ISO was 400

I ran across this setting a couple years ago on an anniversary get-away with my wife in upper Wisconsin. I stopped in the middle of the road and got out to shoot this piece of nostalgia alive and well in the heartland. In the middle of town, not a car on the road, and not a person on the street. I just love it. Hope you do, too.

PS. Can you find the dog?
