I actually shoot raw and export the format desired. I LOVE natural in situation lighting and sometimes I need the raw file to save an underexposed shot. But this lens is pretty awesome! Going on a trip this weekend and cannot wait to run it through its paces! ---------- Post added 06-26-18 at 09:00 PM ----------
Mine was sharp right out the box. I haven't needed to tune this or the 50MM plastic lens. Guess I got lucky?

Just got this lens two weeks ago and just loved it. Between this and the 50mm plastic lens I stopped carrying the 18-55 kit lens. Loving the plastic fantastic life. Here are some unedited raw files.

I have never gotten catch in focus to actually fire. I'm probably doing something wrong but also never really wanted to figure it out. I find it more useful to learn what in focus looks like in the view finder. My astigmatism doesn't help but if I get my eye where it needs to be and keep it there I can manage. Thinking about getting a eye cup to see if that helps if I can source one.

Been learning my way around the SMC Pentax-M 50mm F1.4. It's a really awesome lens. I'm not quite confident enough to just live the manual focus life full time when it counts. But, either way, this lens is so fun to use and has gotten some great shots. All of these were just candid shots with the 50mm on a k5II. Some mild editing but nothing outrageous. If you nail the focus it's a beautiful lens!

I really liked these while I was there and had a blast developing them but I would like to know what you all think. Good stuff? Not so interesting? Something I should look at doing differently? Have at it!

Is there something wrong with this picture I'm not seeing or is this just not that interesting to others?

Went to a pirate fest in Hesperia, CA. Stayed with a black powder guild. Got to shoot a Pentax AND a cannon. This isn't me but it's my favorite of all the shots I got of the cannons. First time using ANY DSLR at an event. So much fun and I got quite a few awesome shots!

Went to take pictures of the sunset. Hazy skies had other ideas. This kinda made it work it!

Already on the plan. Deciding if I need it for the pirate fest I'm headed to in a few weeks. Probably gonna get it but forcing myself to not go lens crazy.

If only I could go! The games are not so cheap what with them winning so much and the new camera took me out of the buying pool. Next year, Rangers @ Golden Knights, come hell or high water! Count on it!

Oh I have been. It's how I landed on the K-5 II after the K-30 debacle. I live in Vegas and am active in the ren faire. Man-made objects, coarse textiles, and cacti of all shapes and sizes abound and I'm not doing this for money so moire avoidance trumped increased sharpness. So thanks for that!

So, after a failed bid on a K-R a returned K-30 with an unannounced bad aperture solenoid, I have purchased a K-5 II! I'm a newbie but I'm super excited to get started shooting with a DSLR. Been taking phone shots for a while and pushed my old yet fun Panasonic dmc-fz8 to it's functional limits. After talking to some friends and reading some books I decided to just dive right in and get started with a more advanced set of tools. I'll likely be using this forum for reference more than anything for a bit but thought I should introduce myself.
