Hello all,
Yesterday being July 4th I was excited to try out my pentax K-1 mark II + SMC Pentax-FA 31mm . I have shot plenty of fireworks photos with my old Canon gear, so I felt I knew the general setup (a tripod, remote trigger, manual focus to infinity and wait).
However try as I may I could not get the 31mm to focus to infinity. All the shots came out blurry and unfocused. Im not sure what Im missing. Has anyone shot fireworks with 31mm + Pentax k-1 ? Can the SMC Pentax-FA 31mm focus to infinity ? Whats your secret ?

An update - after carefully reviewing my options I chose the Pentax FA 31mm limited lens. I received both the camera and the lens couple of days ago. Here are some shots - Pentax K-1 | Flickr |

Thank you Chuck! I had pre-ordered (on march 3rd) the K-1 mkII and it was delivered couple of days ago (april 13) -- can I still buy the extended warranty ?

I have pre-ordered Pentax K-1 Mark 2. I did some research and apparently Pentax offers a 3 year extended warranty for K-1 (eg: Pentax Extended Warranty for Advanced ADVWARRANTY-ADVILC B&H).
I was wondering if this also applies to K-1 Mark 2 and how much time I have to purchase this (do I have a month from delivery or should I have purchased it at the time of pre-order) ?

Thank you all! As a newcomer to this forum, really thankful for the thoughtful response. I'll research 24-70 before deciding. Also you are right I have only used a APS-C sensor cameras so really didn't expect 15mm to be super wide on FF.

Hello Pentaxians
Im jumping head first into Pentax world! I have pre-ordered a Pentax K-1II (and also in the process of selling off my Canon gear to recoup some cost). I got caught up in the moment and along with the pre-order, without much research, I'm also purchasing a Pentax D-FA 15-30mm lens.
After some careful research (aka reading this forum) I'm having second thoughts about the choice of lens as it seems heavy to carry around (mounted on the already heavy camera).
Since then I discovered the Pentax 31mm Ltd lens. Im now sitting on the fence between keeping my originally choice of 15-30mm lens or going in with the 31mm ltd lens.
I intend to take photos of my daughter (mostly indoors), her artwork (she's 4 yrs) and maybe some street photos.
I need your suggestion in choosing between the two lenses.
