Yes, it seems to fly under the radar a bit, being overshadowed by the models before and after it.

Giving the speaker some exercise this evening with two eras of Steve Winwood.

Starting with 'Roll With It' from '88.

Then back to '77 and 'Steve Winwood'.

Heads up about Ford wheel nuts.

All my Fiats have had bolts, although I changed the 124 rally car to long studs and nuts to aid faster and easier wheel location when swapping in an emergency.

The Chrysler Crossfire (Merc SLK) has bolts.

Jeep ZG and WK both had nuts.

Jeep Renegade (Fiat) has bolts.

Original VW Beetle has bolts.

Early Porsche 911 has nuts.

Well, you did ask

I suspect the manufacturers' bean counters prefer a single bolt over a stud and nut; half the number of parts, half the number of assembly ops :)

Thanks Kevin, it was shot from a kayak on a very calm and tranquil evening on Loch Voil in Scotland last June. The K50 is my 'beater body', bought cheap off eBay with aperture block failure. It was a lovely trip but I got eaten alive by midges :D

Thanks for the heads up, I think I have got the Hemi out of my system now and managed to resist temptation. The Renegade serves my Jeeping/suv requirements well, and I have other options when I want to be less sensible :)

The 4x4 variant of the Duster is a versatile little vehicle and quite similar to the Renegade - I've nearly bought one a few years ago, and I've seen quite a few out on the trails in the Pyrenees

I guess there is a double meaning there. I meant it had plenty of space to swallow the spare fuel for the rally car, but it certainly drank its fair share too  A GC like yours with the 3.0 Mercedes diesel would probably have been a wiser choice but I had come from the straight six 4.0 in a GC Orvis and needed to scratch the Hemi itch. Yes, the SRT's are absolute beasts and the 6.1's are temptingly cheap now. The good thing about the 5.7 Hemi is that it still had the low range transfer box and was still pretty handy offroad, I think they dispensed with it in SRT's.

The 4.0 GC could swallow plenty of fuel too :)

Went on plenty of adventures in it, from the Nurburgring and Spa to the Scottish islands, and several trips to your part of the world too:)

Yes, I do miss the performance of the V8, and the sound; I've had two of them. But in recent years I have taken to doing long camping trips down through Europe, exploring off road routes and trails in the Alps and Pyrenees with my brother. He was running a 2.0 diesel Renegade Trailhawk (the only engine option for the Trailhawk in the UK) and travelling in convoy at 80-85 MPH on the Autoroutes he'd be getting 35-40 MPG and I'd be sub 20! The expense was bad enough, but it was more the inconvenience of always thinking about fuel stops - I imagine its akin to running an EV today:) So I decided to follow suit and just get an identical Renegade, which is actually much better suited to the purpose and lower maintenance (more due to its younger age), and its still fun to hustle along. It's also much lighter and nimbler off road. Towing capacity is only 1500KG though. Having two identical vehicles also meant we could carry common spares and tools. He's recently swapped to a VW 4 Motion van though, so that'll be a whole new adventure this year:)

We seem to have drifted a long way from the state of Dartmoor Dave's swollen nuts:lol:

You often see the guys at tyre fitting places diligently setting a torque wrench and doing a final check of all the wheel nuts, listening for the satisfying 'clickety click'......but only after their mate has rattled them up to who knows what with an extended burst of hammering with the windy gun, including the more delicate security nuts and keys.

I'd not thought of it like that, but yes, often with touch of Uber Eats  I've swapped to a smaller (and more economical) Jeep now, so have to be a bit more selective with the amount of gear. The Grand Cherokee Hemi used to swallow fuel, spare wheels, tools, recovery gear, fridge, cooker, and supplies, and still travel four up in comfort; it was also quicker than some of the rally cars

The Renegade is more optimised for looking after the crew than the cars :)

That does sound like fun times indeed Dave. I quite enjoy being on spanner duties but it's usually with rally rather than race crews, which usually means working out in the pouring rain grappling with muddy nuts  It's good fun thrashing around in the chase car though :)

Its all to do with specific brands/types of cells are able to deliver current spikes without dropping their terminal voltage. There are several threads on it including this one where I did some testing on it.

Help! Low battery Pentax *ist DL - Page 3 - PentaxForums.com

The problem can be solved by fitting a suitable capacitor across the supply rails, but that obviously entails a certain amount of disassembly/reassembly of the camera that you might not want to get involved in.

Judging by the amount of activity in this thread, it seems the venn diagram of Pentaxians and automotive wheel 'enthusiasts' has quite a large intersection  Coincidentally to Dave's woes, I was just about to post a long overdue update in my car rebuild thread, including the build of my makeshift bead breaker.

That is a lovely 124 Coupe, you can't beat a Fiat/Lancia twin cam on Webers  I have the Spider variant which has undergone a couple of rebuilds and evolutions over the years. It's currently masquerading as an Abarth(ish) replica and awaiting me to finish the engine rebuild; a Guy Croft (RIP) inspired 2.0.

Wall-drive sockets are useful if you need to allow for a bit more tolerance on nut size.
