Hi guys just thought I would post my experience with the 31mm hd lens in one word disappointed
the first one a got was badly de centred so I thought try another and the same thing again I also got the 43mm HD and compared it to my smc 43mm and to my surprise my old lens is much sharper and I prefer the colours from the smc to the HD I also got the 77mm and compared to my voitlander 65mm APO and my 75mm 1.5 both on Nikon z7 there is a massive difference the new voitlanders are better more contrasty sharper and just made so well like tanks
the quality control on the 31mm was dreadful I didn’t even want to try a 3rd one the 31mm is a great lens if you haven't tried the voitlander lenses but trust me the voits are the best lenses Ive ever owned I am sure there will be lots of people on here arguing over this but I thought it was worth mentioning
My conclusion aboutthe hd31 is that is has:
* Ugly yellow colour balance.
*HD coating is terrible with stray light
See HDhere:HD vs. SMC Pentax FA Limited Lenses Review - Flare and Ghosting | PentaxForums.com Reviews
SeeMUCH better SMC here:HD vs. SMC Pentax FA Limited Lenses Review - Flare and Ghosting | PentaxForums.com Reviews
*HD has uglier starbursts
* Bad sharpness
* Bad qualitycontrol
* HD coating killed the pop (3d) too, by over-improvingdynamic range. Pictures are flat and boring.

no UHS-II not a big deal buffer for landscape work doesnt matter noise levels never bother me as i keep it to iso 3200 yes older lenses can make a difference ive just got all the HD versions of the ltd lenses and can tell you now they are superb my 31mm i sent back as the right hand corner was a tiny bit softer decentred but most people would be happy with it not me i like near or as close to perfection as i can get
nest pentax camera full frame first 3 moonths in 2023 thats my guess

hi guys thought i would give an update on my selling the k-1 well i have had and tried some of the best lenses in the world and the best cameras out there lucky me
anyhow when i first got my k-1 i fell in love with the camera build quality image quality the list goes on but i had trouble with the accurate focusing so i sold the camera for a crazy low price that i couldt even tell you guy s how much
this was the biggest mistake i have ever made in my photography adventures
i love my Nikon z7and loved the k-1 but the focusing was a problem
Ive recently been looking at my images over the years and i am still amazed at the quality so strangely
and with no reluctance Ive ordered a k-1 mk2
call me crazy but i just miss the Pentax and i feel the mk2 focus will be a tiny bit better
my only concern is100 ISO dynamic range magenta tint but if i use the ISO 125 that solves the problem i rarely go over ISO 640 so hopefully the softness in the image isn't as bad as Ive heard
my Panasonic s1r i had to sell dreadful corner softness with my Zeiss adapted lenses even with high quality Novoflex adapter even though the pixel shift was good the Pentax is better Ive got hundreds of samples that when i get time i will post on Dropbox for people to download and compare for themselves
in my opinion the Pentax is the best DSLR ever built in the digital realm the build quality is superb
the Panasonic SDcard slot wasn't that good i didn't think. good camera with native lenses but because it does the 180 megapixel pixel shift there is a slight problem de fraction occurs much sooner there will be thins that annoy me about the k-1 mk2 like af fine tuning but i will just put up with it and use the camera
i will not be buying any more camera or lenses for a long time and will enjoy this forum with the nice genuine people that are on here
i want to start doin a youtube channel about pentax which i think would help a lot of people understand how great a company they are
i know understand why they are slower at bringing a mirroless camera to the market

please pentax you had a winner with the pentax k-1 they you released the k-1 mk2 with baked in iso please do not do this again and for goodness sake dont do a FF with a 25mp sensor it just does not make sence
just improve on the pentax k-1 and mark 2 the 3 .2 inch screen the way it moves is fantastic 45 50mp would be great faster af the same superb build quality
simple faster AF bigger mega pixels not massive like 60mp but maybe 45 50mp same build quality and you have got my cash ---------- Post added 11-30-21 at 06:33 AM ---------- it may not sound like a big deal but the 3.2 inch screen for anyone over 50 years of age does make sense thats why i love nikon and pentax sony never again
articulating screen for me if it never has this i would not buy the camera i would have bought the mk3 iii if it has this so versatile it makes a big difference
from a psychological point of view k-1 s 36mp anything lower is crazy even for faster speed now if you did 2 cameras FF one with 25mp for faster speed and one for slower photography like 50mp i think you would be on to a winner
that way you would have a bigger audience ie apsc mk3iii. FF 25mp much much faster AF and then 50mp FF for pure still photography
and if you have any cash left over pentax 645z mk2 please

As the years go by the sensors have more mega pixels but can the glass keep up answer no the pansonic lenses for the l alliance can all resolve 200 megapixels so fairly future proof
I just think pentax need to change direction
I enjoyed my k-1 and pixel shift and actually regret selling it now im happy with nikon z7 and panasonic s1r but if pentax release a new k-1 mk 3 i will buy it and im sure the AF will improve
Mirroless advantage is no AF fine tuning which is a massive plus
Good luck to you pentax like your first girlfriend i will never forger you and maybe we will meet again

i buy what i think will meet my criteria pentax k-1 doesnt dont get me wrong its a superb camera apart from the AF but for me the z7 and s1r are far better supported ie glass

hi guys i ended up selling my k-1 which i thought i would never ever do but the lens roadmap for Pentax was very very poor
i still have my z7 with the latest version of the tech art adapter tze-02 and it is flawless with my voight lenses
Ive all so bought a Panasonic s1r and all i can say with good quality glass its beats thek-1 pixel shift by a large margin i use Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90mmf/2.8-4 ASPH and i can tell you know for pure micro contrast and sharpness its unreal
i allso got the sl2 but i need the tilt screen. i like things about the sl2 over the s1r but in the end have kept the s1r
i am sure there will be lots of people who think crazy but that's me
now and this is abig if but maybe Pentax ricoh could join the L alliance that would bea great idea for them because how they will survive is beyond me i love Pentax loved the k-1 but better things are out there
my main gripe with the Pentax k-1 was AF to me it wasn't accurate like the other cameras i have it was all ways off and it did go in for repair and was OK for the first couple of months but then back to poor focus
most leica and Panasonic lenses can resolve 200 megapixels so pretty future proof and the sigma dg lenses which are super well priced are all so sharp as hell and very well made
out of all the forums i have been on i love the Pentax people in general and i will still come on here every now and then
with the z7 i get the 1.2 lenses voightlander and with the s1r i get the pixel shift and the superb leica lenses and can adapt all lenses like my Zeiss etc etc
leica M lenses below 35mm do have mussy corners as the sl2 this is perfect but not on thes1r
i wanted pin sharp images i all so wanted lenses that had character and a different look amazing colours and this setup i have is the best Ive got and am finally happy foveon type quality with better colours
even with my zeiss lenses pixel shift on the k-1 which once wowed me doesnt hold a candle to the s1r you must remember glass high quality is the key and pentax dont have it
yes 31mm ltd 77mm ltd and 43mm i have kept but for sharpness to the next level sl2 or s1r is the way to go and so many lenses to choose from

hi guys though i would post this as i am an avid fan of the Pentaxk-1 Ive got most of the lenses 31mm Ltd 43mm Ltd 77mm Ltd not many i haven't got Ive all so got the full collection of the Zeiss zk mount for Pentax and the zf.2 versions so having done a lot of testing with the k-1 and these lenses and pixel shift i started to wander is there much that can come close so i bought a Nikon z7 at first my eyes hurt with the evf and i sold it but then a good deal came up so i though i mainly do tripod stuff so gave it another try and to me its better than the k-1
i love my k-1 and will never sell it in fact i have a brand new one never opened that'show much i love that camera i love the 31mm Ltd and some of the Zeiss are superb
i got the z7 and 2470 f2.8 and 24 70mm f4 just to test but what i found was they are super sharp corner to corner but that's it no character the k-1 withthe 77mm has a 3d pop lots of character and i like the rendering like the 31mm and Zeiss
so i decided to buy a voigtlander lens the 40mm 1.2 for Sony e i purchased a tech art adapter to attach to my Nikon z7 and i have a lot of cameras and lenses and Ive never seen colour and rendering like it they are that good i will be getting them all and selling my Zeiss lenses i am not even keeping one of them that's how impressed i am with this setup
after a while my eyes have adjusted to the evf and i prey the next camera Pentax bring out is mirroless because the evf makes a huge difference
when i get a chance i will post some images with the voits
i did tests with pixel shift and the APO voits are sharper the focusing on the z7 is all so better than the k-1 i will never sell my k-1 but the z7 colours are amazing with these lenses
i am really spoilt for choice but have now decided to sell a lot of gear
one annoying thing on z7 is 2sec 5 sec timer wont stay saved when camera goes to sleep really annoying but that's about it
one more thing got a mint Pentax 28mm 3.5 M lens like new rather than mint not a mark on it and that lens i tested today and i was shocked how good it was if anyone asks i can put full version images on flicker .

Hi guys because the weather has been dreadful haven’t been able totest the camera fully but indoor shots hand held with the Zeiss 35mmf2 are superb and exactly were i focused its like having a new camera
So a big thanks goes to john Pye technical for calibrating the camera
I have so many cameras and lenses that i have now reevaluated things some lenses i will never sell as they are ultra rare but my cameras have been interesting fugi gfx 100s i am selling to my friend with all the fugi lenses at first i liked the camera but the ergonomics for me i wasn’t keen on
Nikon z7 with some of my Minolta lenses and Yashica lenses is really good but one problem i have is evf eye strain and the same with the fugi i don’t really need to keep them so both are going
This may surprise some people but there just not for me hasselblad 907x i am keeping as the colour reproduction is amazing i managed to get all the Zeiss zkmount lenses of a friend in japan so im now happy i have the full collection for Pentax Nikon d850 i also am keeping as i like the optical viewfinder ergonomics and wildlife lenses
But for some reason i have this love affair with Pentax and i am keeping my k-1 and nearly bought another k1-mk2 but because of the magenta cast and i decided just to wait for now i have far to many things
I don’t know if any other members have the mirroless cameras but the evf for me is a no go when i think about it an organic light emitting diode 1 inch away from your eye cant be good the one think i loved about the gfx and the z7 was older glass and mf but now my k-1 is calibrated im super impressed at how good this camera is and to be honest my favourite lenses are the 31mm Ltd the 43mm Ltd and the 77mm Ltd i also converted my contax collection with leitex adapter but will end up selling them as i know have the full set of zk
at the end of the day having all this gear makes no difference i need to get out there and start capturing those moments
I'm glad Pentax haven’t gone mirroless as the evf for me and my eyes give me dreadful headaches
Ive compared the k-1with pixel shift vs gfx and hasselblad and to me the pixel shift images have that fine edge detail that the other cameras haven’t got yes gfx is medium format to an extent but field of view isn’tthe end of the world for the money the Pentax k-1 is incredible
i am very lucky to be able to own all these cameras but at the end of the day taking photos is what counts

I'm a bit disappointed on my k-1 I always use the tilting screen and this is one reason I wont purchase the new camera
I just prey Pentax when and if they release a new k-1 they don’t have a static screen this would turn me away from them .i love my k-1 and think Pentax area mazing but with so many cameras on the market they have to getthings spot on and price should be nearer 1500
Thanks Mike should have said uk £1500

hi guys I decided to purchase the adapter and do the conversion myself ..spoke to david who is a great guy and replies really quick ..so I got an led light so plenty of light .I also thought why not get a small bowl of water near buy that way the dust will be attracted to the water...not for everyone that lol.anyhow I had to take the zeiss bayonet and I purchased a good quality screw driver ...must say make sure you do this as even with the good german screwdriver I lost the thread on the screw and it was very tricky to get it off ,so things so far not great ,next was a small ball bearing that come off a spring ,it needs to be put back on the spring and you have to be very very careful you don't drop it in the lens mechanism so on the tip of the screwdrive I placed a tiny bit of grease and this lifted the ball out ..later on I had to get the ball and place it on top of the spring .a bit fiddly and in davids instructions it says not to use tweezers..in the end I had no option as the ball was not easy and so small so the tweezers for me worked ..once again german tweezers ..sound crazy but I only if I can get german products that are high quality and they worked a treat ..all in all I thought it was ok but a beginner I think would struggle ....I also used a Zeiss Optics Head-Worn Visor Magnifying which made it much easier .I know the 35 70mm isn't easy to do and it is best left to a pro like david .and I agree lol....I have done some tests today and all I can say is wow ..it has that microcontrast and that pop .its better than my 43mm ltd at f8 f11 really really sharp but lovely colours ..will do more tests tomorrow and post some samples on my here then a link to fliker for all the pixel peepers out there .....I don't think I am going to need to get the pentax 31mm ltd now and the focus ring is like butter really happy with the adapter ...
thx david for all the help and now I could get addicted but those contax lenses still have something special ...will have no choice now but to get my 35 70mm zeiss contax adapted

hi guys I love my k-1 and wanted to get a bag for it and a fiew lenses ,but I also wanted a compartment for a tripod as I don't like people seeing me carrying camera and tripod ..so my search began and ive found the perfect bag for my uses ,ive also found the pefect tripod that fits in the bag and the weight is very very good here is what is in the bag,ive also bought a pair of nooz optics ,will attach links
k-1 with l bracket and 43mm ltd lens
100mm macro
50mm macro
35mm f2.4
memory card holder
2x batterys
not heavy im now 50 so don't want to be carrying big heavy gear .tripod choice is anything that is around 15inch will fit
also sick of forgetting or having to carry my glasses around .I have superb long distance but not great short so these are brilliant
link to camera bad I actually got mine for just £59 it has gone up a tiny bit Vanguard VEO Discover 38 Shoulder Bag - Black: Amazon.co.uk: Camera & Photo
tripod is FLM CP26 german made really high quality and the perfect size and because its carbon nice and light but very very sturdy ..I was tempted with the novoflex triopod but the legs which screw on are 16inch and the other legs they sell are only 12 or 13 inch which fit fine but height isn't great so this is the reason I went with the FLM FLM CP26Travel Tripod - Carbon Fibre

yes a difference in price..i found this and if you look at them and compare at say f5.6 the Samyang is superior in everyway the pentax 35mm is awful unless the person got a really bad copy ..I just downloaded the images and put them at 100 percent next to each other its put me off the pentax ..take a look SAMYANG 35mm F1.4 AS UMC, F2.8 | 35mm for Pentax K Compariso? | Flickr |
