test chart top is 43mm smc bottom is 43mm HD bottom one has yellow tint .first 31mm left not sharp right allways sharp decentred lens second 31mm top righ and left decentred .i find some of the comment abusive toward me so rather than argue the point i will just leave the pentax forum alltogether people should be polite and nice to each other life is to short im really dissapointed in some of the comments so i will leave this forum for good
read my post carefully i said i was dissapointed with the quality control
allmost verging on bullying are the comments

its a forum to learn and talk and discuss certain things to do with photography its not a forum to bully someone and about spelling and punctuation there is a reason for this and it is i have a disabilty
i am leaving this forum for good

First off I am not interested in people who comment about punctuationand capital letters I am just pointing out what happened in mysituation so your best going to another post that may interest you ongrammar I am extremely busy so when I get the chance I will postimages

Strange. It is perhaps the sharpest lens I've ever seen but and this is a big but compared to if you havent seen or used the voigtlander there is no reference point the voigtlander lenses are better made the caps never come off they are optically better and have thats superb japanese build and quality control
im not saying the pentax lenses are bad im saying im dissapointed with the new HD versions

Hi guys just thought I would post my experience with the 31mm hd lens in one word disappointed
the first one a got was badly de centred so I thought try another and the same thing again I also got the 43mm HD and compared it to my smc 43mm and to my surprise my old lens is much sharper and I prefer the colours from the smc to the HD I also got the 77mm and compared to my voitlander 65mm APO and my 75mm 1.5 both on Nikon z7 there is a massive difference the new voitlanders are better more contrasty sharper and just made so well like tanks
the quality control on the 31mm was dreadful I didn’t even want to try a 3rd one the 31mm is a great lens if you haven't tried the voitlander lenses but trust me the voits are the best lenses Ive ever owned I am sure there will be lots of people on here arguing over this but I thought it was worth mentioning
My conclusion aboutthe hd31 is that is has:
* Ugly yellow colour balance.
*HD coating is terrible with stray light

*HD has uglier starbursts
* Bad sharpness
* Bad qualitycontrol
* HD coating killed the pop (3d) too, by over-improvingdynamic range. Pictures are flat and boring.

no UHS-II not a big deal buffer for landscape work doesnt matter noise levels never bother me as i keep it to iso 3200 yes older lenses can make a difference ive just got all the HD versions of the ltd lenses and can tell you now they are superb my 31mm i sent back as the right hand corner was a tiny bit softer decentred but most people would be happy with it not me i like near or as close to perfection as i can get
nest pentax camera full frame first 3 moonths in 2023 thats my guess

i had the mk1 and now own the mark 2 i would say forget waiting and just get mk2 my advice black friday deals as in the uk i got an amzing deal that is so low i cant even say it on this forum most other brands want silly money for cameras sony a1 silly money nikon z9 crazy ive got my mk2 and nikon z7 and couldnt be more happy

the camera industry to me has gone far to quick and the prices are not afforadable to most folks atleast with pentax taking there time they make a camera that is like a tank and wonerful ergonomics just a bit faster would be nice but keep to the same quality 60 mega pixels would be future proof in my opinion

yes bigmack i understand that it is perpendicular the reason it looks off is the main image is on a slight angle but the zeiss star chart is level its a chart i have made up im very accurate with my testing and the left corner is soft its good of you to point that out though so thanks for that

here is a corner crop of a friends 24 70mm f2.8 vs 31mm ltd new hd version both 2 second timer live view very solid tripod teh 24 70mm was spot on 31mm
you can see that the 31mm is very soft so looks to me like a decntred lens

hi steve yes the nikon is better because the lcd screen at the back is higher resolution and it makes a big difference i tried the 31mm on the novofles adapter with the z7 and its far better at seeing critical focus i bought a k-1 mk2 and am really happy with it the combo and the z7 will last me a long time i will try going back on the focus see if it makes a difference

on the zeiss lens if i zoom at 16x with live view you can clearly se the detail just pops and you know you have focus not the same with the 31mm ltd yes christian AF fine tune i WILL try tommorow but im pretty sure if your loosing live view AF is only for auto focus and i have it set to MF this is how i like to shoot i have the control over all aspects

yes john i think i will have to give that ago but its in live view so it shouldnt matter its just when i zoom into 16x and manual focus the image is tricky to see if its in focus or not

hi guys hope someone can help i bought a pentax k-1 mk2 and so far been happy recently i sold my ltd lenses to update to the hd versions anyhow i mainly manual focus and am finding the sharpness on the live view screen isnt that great on my zeiss lenses i can see when i have the image in focus but with the 31mm hd version its not as good now i cant rember if i had this problem with my older 31mm as i have a lot of cameras and cant rember any help would be appreciated

very very good question sundown yes ive added it as i like the look but yes i should have mentioned that out of camera not much is needed with the vooigt lenses the colours are gorgeous

hi guys ive managed to start putting pics up on my fliker page so if anyone want to know about the nikon z7 and the Voit lenses just ask ....ive recentley got a pentax k-1 mk2 and am really happy at last its the perfect setup for me
let me know what you think of those voit colurs

Texandrews i agree they need to pull something big to make people want to upgrade as the k-1 mk 2 i just bought i am very happy with i sold my k-1 but regreted it but will be interesting what the next camera will be

if they produce a camera with same specs as the k-3iii it would just kill the sales
i would do same body as k-1 same 3.2 inch screen reason i sold my sony a7r4 3inch to small
faster AF atlease 45 to 50mp if they produce a 36mp i wont but it its pointless the speed for me isnt really a problem as i dont do that type of photography so just leave that for the next k-3iii
i think this is a crucial time for pentax the way the market is moving and a mistake could be costly

please pentax you had a winner with the pentax k-1 they you released the k-1 mk2 with baked in iso please do not do this again and for goodness sake dont do a FF with a 25mp sensor it just does not make sence
just improve on the pentax k-1 and mark 2 the 3 .2 inch screen the way it moves is fantastic 45 50mp would be great faster af the same superb build quality
simple faster AF bigger mega pixels not massive like 60mp but maybe 45 50mp same build quality and you have got my cash

it may not sound like a big deal but the 3.2 inch screen for anyone over 50 years of age does make sense thats why i love nikon and pentax sony never again
articulating screen for me if it never has this i would not buy the camera i would have bought the mk3 iii if it has this so versatile it makes a big difference
from a psychological point of view k-1 s 36mp anything lower is crazy even for faster speed now if you did 2 cameras FF one with 25mp for faster speed and one for slower photography like 50mp i think you would be on to a winner
that way you would have a bigger audience ie apsc mk3iii. FF 25mp much much faster AF and then 50mp FF for pure still photography
and if you have any cash left over pentax 645z mk2 please

I think whatever they do it will be a great camera the k-1 and mk 2 are very well made and if they can improve the AF they will do well but give your cutomers the choice of noise reduction on or off done force it on to us as a lot will not like that approach

i think sony 45mp not the 60mp faster AF no baked in noise reduction like the pentax k-1 mk2 which i have just purchased and to be honest doesnt bother me as i stay below iso 640
the thing that would stop me purchasing this camera is if pentax make a foolish mistake and dont use a tilt type screen like the k-1 and k-1 mk2 this is so useful in so many situations
relase day knowing pentax 2023 i would rather they take the time and get it rite
