I couldn't believe how long I had been away but renos on the basement are coming along nicely. All the old walls and much of the wiring has been removed, the exposed cinder block walls coated with spray foam right up into the joist boxes and now the rebuild begins. Exterior walls built and some of the interior walls have been begun as well as some of the plumbing.
Electrical, plumbing, insulation, drywall still to go.

Dad used fly the DC3 and would jokingly come home bragging that he had just flown one of those new planes with the nose wheel in the tail.

A friend of mine, years ago, invited me to his place to listen to his high priced system. I would never spend that kind of money on a stereo but truth be told, the music generated by that system was stunning.

I was busy ripping the walls and ceiling out of my basement. Two trips to the dump and 1/3 of the space is done! Wow, after more than 8 different owners of this house, there was some scary electrical shenanigans going on behind the scenes.

Dad used to get involved with aircraft accidents to some degree as he was the Regional Controller for civil aviation at Dorval International Airport. Later in life he worked for airline safety and then ICAO; I will never forget the day he got the call about Air India Flight 182; from the sound of his voice I thought a family member had died. He was devastated.
He retired shortly after that as he turned 65 that September.
