Every time I start thinking I could take better pictures if only I had a K3ii or a K1, or whatever the next cameras will be (have a K5), I take a look at the beautiful pictures here and get my head screwed back on straight again. Keep posting the great shots and comments!

Hi All, hasn't it been about 7 months since the KP was announced? Maybe they are getting ready for the K3iii!

I'm confused. If the hdr shot also used the flash, what happened to the shadow?

Is this the place for a "Buy a K3 or KP?" question. It's an interesting trade, especially since the K3 and K3ii are $300 lower in price.

I was just wondering, is this the usual way that pentax announces a new camera? Send out the announcement along with the specs. And minutes later retailors have it ready for order on their websites for the following month? That is really fast!

Great shot. I was there in Aug. but in the afternoon, lighting was harsh but I took almost the same picture. I was nervous about falling forward the entire time. Hope it was less scary for you!

I am pretty sure that whatever I say won't change your mind, but only someone with a photographer's eye and more importantly heart can make the argument you did. I would venture to add that the picture is not the important thing (unless you sell them to provide for your family!), it's the journey (physical and mental) to get the picture, and the things you realize about it and the experience afterwards that counts.

Hello, BigMackCam may be onto something. My K5 did similar things, I tracked it down to a specific lens, and found that the shutter lever that goes into the camera body was "scraping" the side of the track it goes in. I bent it a little and the problem went away. If only "photographer's understanding of the metering mode" problems that I have were so easy to remedy! Good Luck!

Thanks for the response and the pointer to the article which is quite useful. My question could have been stated better. I can imagine that the autofocus system could focus on something in a picture that was closer to the camera than intended focus point. I am curious as to how it can front focus if there is nothing in front of the intended focus point, like a wall for instance.

Hello, I was wondering if someone could explain how an slr autofocus with a front or back focusing lens can signal that it is focused (green dot and beep) when the camera is taking a picture of a flat surface like a wall or a picture hanging on a wall.
thanks, this has been bugging me for a few days!

Hello,
My flash that was still under warranty did the same thing. The note I got back with the repaired unit was that it was cleaned and re-aligned. It worked great for 2 yrs, and then would not fire, this time because of some capacitor problem, it would have costed $150 with shipping. They just don't make flashes like they used to!

Hi,
I have hardly used my flash in the past 1.5 yrs and now it will not fire even when I push the green lit button. All other functions/controls work, has anyone else had the problem, and is it worth fixing?
thanks for the help in advance!

You may want to try testing the lens for front or back focus. I don't know what f stop the photos abover were taken with but I have a lens that was underperforming and finally figured out that it was front focusing. It was more apparent at larger F stops.

If it OK to ask, would you share some tips on how to get these types of shots?
thanks!

Thanks everyone for the tips. Fill flash did lessen the "sunspots" but they were still visible. Looks like the consensus is that you can make it a little better but can't remove them completely. Best advice is to avoid dappled light unless it is the effect you want!

Hi,
How do you remove or blend light or dark shade areas from a person's face? For instance from a picture where the subject is in the shade of a tree, and there are a few places where the sun was not shaded on their face. I have Topaz clean, but have not been able to figure out how to do it.
thanks in advance!

Winder,
Thanks for answering my question on full frame lenses on an APS-C. I think I got it!

Wow it took me 2 days and watching the video to get to the point where I may get it! I should leave well enough alone but one question. If you are using a full frame lens on an APS-C camera, is the APS-C picture is equivalent (exposure, depth of field,...) to a full frame picture except for the field of view? If it is, I get it, if it is not then will have to watch the video again......

The picture gives me a sense of peacefulness, or calmness. I wonder how it would have looked if it had been shot looking slightly down at the model instead of up?

Thanks to all of you for the answers. Makes sense that the motion correction is the same regardless of whether the image is cropped or not. One last question, when I use the "Check the shutter count" tab on this website and look at the exif data, it says "ShakeReduction On (15) ". What is the (15) telling you?

My question is: Shake reduction needs to know the focal length of the lens. If you are using a full frame pentax "F" series lens or similar, do you need to manually input the focal length to account for the crop factor? I'm sorry if this has been answered before, I did a search but did not find anything.
