Continuing my practice of last year, I checked to see which lens I had taken most shots with in 2019. Once again I was very surprised. It is the DFA* 50 f/1.4 (1625 shots). I really didn't think I'd used it that much! So, by weight of numbers, the new fast 50 is my lens of the year. |

Another from our September trip to Sanibel, The gulls were always following the pelicans. Looking for an easy meal, it was fun shooting them.

This was taken with my humble K-R. Not a popular camera in my country, it served me well though.
It is now retired, internal battery fault, it couldn't be fixed at a cost that made sense.
Sad days, I have my K-5 now though, I do miss the white body of the K-R.
Bonk is called Bonk because he is clumsy and foolhardy. Bonk!

My neighbor's back yard has provided me with a lot of photo ops over the years.

I call the Isle of Arran's landscapes home. They are always familiar to me, and always new. They never disappoint, never let me down. Sure, sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate - but that's normal, and it doesn't matter: photographing the sun rising over what looks like a sculptor's work, is simply priceless :) 1.4 second exposure with my Hasselblad X1D, Hasselblad XCD 21mm and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters.
Thank you for viewing, best regards

Hi,
I needed a wide angle, and my budget was limited. I recently bought the Sigma 10-20 f/3.5, which according to the reports, seems good enough, even if some people complained than this new version was less sharp than the older (the Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6).
Then I decided to check how sharp it could be by taking some photos with it, and comparing to my other lenses.
To my shock, the kit DA-L 18-50 was much sharper than the Sigma at 18mm (according to my eyes ; I don't have tools to mesure sharpness).
How so? People and reviews often disregard kit lenses as cheap lens with mediocre IQ, but I didn't expect the kit to perform that well, and I didn't expect the Sigma to be so deceptive.
Photos have been taken with mostly default settings and AUTO mode. Camera is K-S2. Photos are cropped to the center (focus) area (for size reasons). Advice would be appreciated.
