I have just purchased a K-7 from someone on the forum. I'm am yet to hear and feel the the clunk on this machine. It is set to perform the action on start up but all that happens is a slight squeaking noise but no vibration("Clunk"). I have a K20D and there is a clear and distinctive vibration (sensor clean) on start up (manually set) and when performed manually but not with the recently purchased K-7. I'm assured by the seller that this is normal, however after reading this post I'm unsure. Can anyone shed some light on the matter???
Edit: I went into Paxtons and tested a brand new one. My one seems to do exactly the same thing as the store camera. I was expecting a louder noise and more vibration that what it was! So I guess all is ok!

Hey there I'm just playing around with some off camera eBay flashes triggered by remote(ctr-301's) it all works fine except when I use my AF-560 flash they wont sync with a shutter speed of more 1/30th, the flash still fires and the camera fires but no flashgun light is captured! :hmm:
Anyone know how to fix this issue or what the cause may be?
Regards
Simon:)

Thanx Wasser, That does help.
I have a 17-70mm, 17mm being at 2.8 so I guess its to no benefit at all really and given the quality of the final image its not really going to serve the purpose as I want a decent result. So I think I'll just stick to the 17mm lens until the opportunity comes around for a...say 10-24mm comes a long.

I was thinking about getting one of these for live music shots, up front of the stage featuring punk music so its not going to be all pretty, and there will be a lot of pushing in the back etc!
It will be on a manual focus 1.4 50mm lens. I was just wondering if any uses one and is it worth spending the money on it...if not I'll put the money towardds some studio lights for band portraits and new baby boy shots which arrives in 4 weeks! Any thoughts most welcome!

Cool, thanx guys! I've been doing a lot of live gigs lately and have been curious as to how well I am doing with my 17-70 2.8-4.5(is that a laugh I hear) but for some place's it works well others not so well.
I think you guys are right about having more control over the noise settings and find myself only tweaking it a little in pp to keep the sharpness and not get that yukky plastic look!

I'm just wondering if someone who has owned or owns (god forbid) another brand of camera and how the noise around say iso-800 upwards in low light situation compare with other camera's in similar semi pro/price bracket?
Also how much does the roll of the lens play in the noise factor?
Cheers

A mate has asked me to shoot a gig for him.Never done one before so I'm just doing a bit of home work.Got a few Ideas on what i should do but I wondered if any one here does this sort of stuff with a K20D or similar and can offer some useful advice and maybe a link to some pics taken on a Pentax DSLR's.
So what I'm keen to kno is what's the best mode to be shooting in...M, Tv etc???
I'll be using a 17-70mm sigma so it should do the job as its only a small venue.
This is what I would start off on...
Shutter speed:180?
Aperture:2.8?
ISO:1600?
Continuous auto focus?
center focus?
Spot metering?
AWB?
Raw+?
Shooting mode single?
Anything I missed???
Thanx!!! |
