Here are todays arrivals (S-T 200mm f/3, S-T 135mm f/3.5, Identity problem 50mm f/1.4, and S-M-C 28mm f/3.5). I had to buy the whole lot last week just to get the 50mm. The 50mm f/1.4 (37902) is special because of the name plate. Instead of reading "Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR" it instead reads "Multi-Coated Super -Takumar". So the name plate wording is mixed up. Takumar should be capitalized if it is a Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR. It just came today and all I had prior to today were the fuzzy Ebay photos from the seller. So the product code is confirmed to be 37902. I had hoped (wished upon a star) that this could also have been a 37802 which would have been the Japanese domestic version with only 2,000 made. Gerjan van Oosten told me there were only 4,680 of these made and I assume that is the number with the error? He also told me he believes this is a pre-production model of the 37902 (Gerjan van Oosten)? Maybe that is why the nameplate is like it is? Somebody else told me it is just a misprint. I have no idea and wish I did. I'm still foggy on that and hope somebody can give me further details. Anyway, this was all pure accident. I spend about 4-5 hours a day on Ebay looking for things that might be rare and came across this. I have OCD so that explains the exorbitant amount of time on Ebay. So keep your eyes peeled! This was sold to me on Ebay by a camera store in Ohio. Arrivals today 3 web | Charles Diaz | Flickr Arrivals today 4 web | Charles Diaz | Flickr Today arrivals 2 web | Charles Diaz | Flickr |

I would say yes, and taller too. The flare is hard to overcome. There's got to be a trick to it.

Sign of the times. I guess. Some people can't seem to put those things down. I'm 55 and we leave the thing at home when we are out around town or have it turned off. Drives my son in law crazy. Both he and my daughter have their faces in those things constantly. I'll never understand it. Life just passes them by.

Got the tracking number tonight. I'll post better photos when I get it. I have been in touch with Gerjan van Oosten, the guy that wrote the book, and he says he saw one on a Spotmatic II brochure many years ago. It was mounted on the camera on in the ad. He's never seen one in the wild.

Hi guys,
I don't have it in my hands yet, but I snagged this lens as part of a 4 lens lot on Ebay this morning. Has anyone else seen one? I bought the lot only because of this lens. I've looked at thousands of 50mm f/1.4 Takumars and have never seen one labeled this way. I'll take photos for the database once I have the lens. Mr. Gerjan van Oosten says he only saw one once and it was a photo of one in an ad for a Spotmatic II. He's never seen one in the wild. As y'all know, he's the authority when it comes to Takumars. s-l1600 | Multi-Coated Super-Takumar 50mm f/1.4 | Charles Diaz | Flickr |

I cannot make out the complete product code, but the last two numbers are absolutely "02" when I blow it up in photoshop. It should be here next week and we'll know for sure.

No. It's the order of the wording that is different. ---------- Post added 07-26-18 at 02:54 PM ----------
Except for the name ring it is the same as the 7 element lenses as far as markings go. Could be the marketing dept. decided to change the word order after issuing a few worded this way? No telling. I already had a 7 element "Super-Takumar" and only got this one due to the name ring. Might not be worth more, but have to admit it is fairly unique.
If this was how "Super-Multi-Coated" was expressed in the beginning it could be there were lenses issued that were marked like this in other focal lengths too. However, I have never seen any on Ebay and I sometimes spend a couple of days at a time just looking at the Asahi Takumar ads (cases, hoods, lenses, etc.) over and over. I have bi-polar so when I am manic... can't help myself. :)
