K1 II Off drains battery completely

I have a similar problem with my K1 if I do not switch it off.

I know that sounds strange but I often leave it on after use and allow it to go to sleep on its own. This is fine if the camera is not moved when asleep. However movement (perhaps because of IBIS etc,) means it does not properly sleep so if I put it in my camera backpack in this state and walk around with it or put it in a car and drive around then it continues to drain until flat.

Well I was told at the time that they were waiting for Pentax UK to get some in, they apparently had a batch of 30 on order with Pentax. It took about 8 weeks if I recall correctly. When the batch arrived they emailed me and said they were working through cameras on their shelf and shortly afterwards mine arrived. So it sounded a genuine process

K-70 aperture block failure for a second time

There are pages on the aperture block failure on this forum so I apologise for starting another.

I had my k-70 repaired (in the UK) by one of the listed repairers in the UK and had to wait many weeks for the official parts, so fairly confident they used the correct parts.

At the time of the first failure I seem to recall it had around 18000 exposures. It was a 2017 camera and it failed in 2021.

I sold the camera last week and it had been in fairly regular use (now around 24000 exposures). I even took an exposure just before putting it up for sale to generate a shutter count and had also run some tests with a teleconverter so I know it was working fine.

However the inevitable has happened. The new owner has received the camera and it has immediately stopped working.

Has anyone else experienced a second block failure after an official repair? I will be discussing it with the repairer this week but wondered what experiences anyone else had.

Martin

Thanks, how does "adjustment" work - I am +1.5 in my viewing eye and they appear to do +1 and +2 corrections. Would I be able to go +1 and adjust "up" or +2 and adjust down?

When I was younger my first Pentax camera was a P30n.

In a fit of nostalgia I saw one in a charity shop and purchased it.

I forgot that over 30 years have passed and my eyesight has aged.

The camera has no diopter adjustment and I cannot focus it!

I can see some diopter offerings such as "Pentax M" ???

What should I be looking for (i know the actual dipoter is dependent on my prescription)

Some beginners questions regarding Astrotracer and INT shooting :-)

To expand on the previous answer.

With exposures over 30seconds the camera takes two exposures, one normal and one "dark" frame which is an exposure of the same length as the normal exposure but without opening the shutter. This frame therefore consists of the sensor noise only and the camera then subtracts this from the normal frame to reduce the noise in the exposure.

Therefore exposures seem to be twice as long as you set.

If you do not intend to do any post-processing with your own dark frames or any other form of noise reduction then you want to leave this switched on so that the camera does the work for you.

If you are taking a long sequence of exposures that you intend to further process or stack then you want to turn it off and do your own sensor noise reduction

If it is just focussing thats an issue then Deneb, Vega, Capella and Jupiter are ideal. I swing around to these bright stars and set the focus on them before moving back to the target, you do not have to set focus using the target itself

The real issue I have with the K-70 live view is seeing the actual target in live view or indeed seeing any of the dimmer stars around the target to identify where the target is. Many frustrating hours were spent missing the target until I switched to a mount with GoTo capability and used a Raspberry Pi to plate solve the location
