This is indeed a very nice lens. Sharp and great rendition. A bit soft at 1.2 but aren’t they all from this era.

I saw the price and was like "woah that's a deal!" - but of course - fungus.
But anyone who wants to clean it up - these lenses are superb!

Nothing special lol - just testing out at f1.2 on Sony A7III.
I love this lens at anything above f1.2 - super sharp, great colors - the real deal.
I'm sure I'll get something good at f1.2 with it sometime! [

I just picked up the SMC 50mm 1.2 - so technically this is a "K" lens right, even though it has the same markings as the SMC M stuff (without the 'M')?

somebody grab that 100/2.8 - it's a fantastic lens at that price.

Great comparison of the two lenses.
If I had to choose I'd go for the 135/2.5 (v2) - such a great lens.

Took a few snaps with the cheap-o SMC Pentax-A 35-70mm F4.
It's not a bad lens at all and can be quite sharp.
A bit noisy in low-light and colors can be a bit muted.
Shot on Sony A7III.

I've got that same lens (but branded under the Cambron name, PK mount) and have not been able to find a hood that does not vignette on it.

TBH - I have no idea - I was shooting it to very bright sun and couldn't really see a thing lol.
But I liked the effect.

Oh yeah that A 50/2.8 looks like a goodie :)
With the shot - its just SOOC and we had finished the shoot so I was just getting a sneaky one in there with the lens :)

I did some headshots yesterday with a bunch of different lenses.
I mainly used the Takumar 85/1.8, Pentax K 50/1.4 and Sony FE 50/1.8 but I also tried a couple of quick shots at the end of the shoot while we were packing up with the SMC Pentax M 50/f4 macro.
I had heard this lens is also really good for portraits and landscapes so I wanted to give it a quick try.
This shot is a SOCC jpeg with no post.
Camera used Sony A7III at SS 1/250, ISO 125, no flash, natural lighting. |

I'm also a new member of the K club (having mostly Ms and Takumars).
I got a K 50/1.4 from a member here at a very nice price (it had no caps and a little dust speck on the rear element) so I thought I would go for it.
I have a bunch of 50mm lenses but nothing faster than f/1.8 and I had heard the K 50/1.4 was a good one.
Well the lens is really nice - great bokeh, sharp and nice colors. Nice build too.
I found its a bit soft at 1.4 but pretty good after that.
I also find the focus area tends to be pretty 'thin' - you have to be right on it.
Anyway, here a shot I just took with it - SOOC low-res jpeg, no post.
I also shot this in RAW and will edit later but I think this lens is a goodie!
NB: Camera used is Sony A7III, natural light.

you take Queens, I'll cover Brooklyn lol ---------- Post added 10-29-18 at 04:01 AM ----------
ha yeah - not - many other places are like this too. I can understand that lots of tripods may get in the way but there is a lot of dumb rules applied to photographers who happen to have a 'professional; looking camera' - just stupid!

I don't know - possibly one of those weird photographer prejudices - you know, where you can't take a 'professional camera' into a place yet people have cellphones that shoot 4K and so forth that they have no problem with. :o

Brooklyn Bridge Park - they've done a nice job here of walkways and green spaces - great for setting ups for photos (just no tripods on the lawn areas as the cop told me lol).
