You have to read laws we have here, our animals can't be killed with handguns. Even Composite bows doesn't affect to bear and moose in here. Either we have twisted animals or law makers are idiots, you can think what I think.
30-06 have silencer to save ears of my dog, so lighter stock would make center of mass to move more forward. Not good. And recoil of my 338wm is enough with current weight :)

I'm planning for light 222 or 300 blk for black grouses, but all my money goes to camera gear..

I have had K1 now for about 2 months. I had K-r with kit and legacy lenses before it. My daughter uses K-r + kits now, as those started to collect some dust..

I shoot mainly near my home, but at autumns I go hunting and usually take whole Lowepro backbag with me. My eatings and some drinks goes in there also. Previously I had K-r + kit lenses, tamron 70-300 and 3-4 primes all the time when shooting with me. Now I carry K1, batterygrip, 24-70 and sometimes that tamron. If I need wider, I take panorama, I don't need more sky in pics. If I need more zoom, I'm happy to crop K1 file afterwards. My camera stuff takes much less space and is actually lighter now. Most of times I just take cam and 24-70 and go outside.

About things like weight and size:
+ I have been shooting guns about 30 years, and more mass means more stability in my mind & hands. With better SR it means that I need tripod very rarely. If I for some reason would want to go light as possible, I would get phone with better camera, not aps-c.
+ We also have thing called winter here in Finland. -20C with cold fingers and you're really happy that there is something to grab on. Even in rainy autumn days, when my fingers are getting stiff because of early marks of arthritis, I'm happy that I have device suiting my hand size. I got batterygrip mainly because I wanted more space for my palms and better handling, extended batterylife is just an extra.

- Yes it's heavy around my neck, but then I can put it back to backbag. In long trips weight of gun is more of an issue for me. 3-4kg in one shoulder for 3 hours hitting your hip makes you forget that 2kg on your neck.
- Raw filesize of K1 means I have to update my PC soon. It's getting slow, but in other hand long and dark winter is great time for postprocessing.

Almost happy that link above took to this discussion, not to competition one. Great way to miss raffle is to follow link that "points to it" in hurry. In Europe that "costs" means shipping + taxes to be paid by lucky winner.

I'm looking for used Pentax 100 or Tamron 90 macro and dfa lenses. I think my 50/1.7 rikenon is going to be on heavy use next days, like maybe 28/2.8 also. Have to see what those old zooms can offer, other one of them seemed amazingly sharp before K-r started to act funny with it. 135/3.5 has been too long for my use in crop, but maybe it gets new chance. Still to decide if I sell K-r or make some brain surgery and remove filter from it's sensor.

Maybe we should make cunning plan for secret society :)

Final decision was purely based on one thing: If I would take something else, I would have regret it very soon, and as old saying here in finland says: Köyhän ei kannata ostaa halpaa (means something like "poor can't afford cheap", meaning it's after all cheaper to buy good quality once than cheap one twice.)

Books says that swan lays 2-10 eggs, so this is kind of maximum and I think it's rare that everyone of those are still alive. I was swimming with kids on our beach and noticed those about 30m away. Ordered kids inside and did get my camera :) Not first ones in our own beach, but in other summers they have had 2-3 small ones with them.

I think I did send mail to same shop. 😀

For clarification, reasons why better lenses with current body isn't an option: with manual focusing view finder resolution sucks, LV sucks even more because it's slow and low resolution. K-r doesn't have separate memory for lenses, so focus corrections have to be re-done every single time you chance lens. White balanse works great, but only with one light source, bulb in somewhere backgroud and it loses it. Did I mentioned that it goes to insane mirror flapping with one or two old manual lenses. Should I continue?

I have send mail to few reseller here in Finland and asked prices for body (KP and K1 II) with batterygrip. I even found one offering old models, but I assume that they just haven't updated their market pages. Asked anyhow, it doesn't cost and I might get lucky. Time is running and K1 give out is coming also, so maybe I should wait a moment if I happen to be lucky one from these thousands of users :)

If device on some case is stronger than expected, doesn't mean it's always that. Like having sex without condom with stranger because your friend didn't catch any disease..

I did register to forum and asked if he would send it to Finland. No answer yet.

My budget is about 3k€, which means that if I go pentax crop, I get 2-3 really good lens. If FF pentax, body and one good lens. If Nikon, dunno yet, have to find out. Just called my pro friend who shoots with Nikon and I'm maybe more mixed up than before :) D500 and D750 seems to be options there. D850 is good, but expensive. In the other hand, why to change from crop pentax to crop nikon and have to change all lenses also. Feels kind of stupid option in logical part of my brain. (which fortunately seems to get smaller every day :)

Btw, he kept advertising Nikon better model features which I have even in my K-r. Funny.

Funny that you mentioned those ones, I've been looking them.

One interesting thing which doesn't help my thinking: I visited local reseller today, and he said that even silver version of KP is not available at moment on importer stock. He thinks there is certainly something new coming still on this year and Ricoh has full focus on it. He was even thinking that there is quite big chance that something under K-70 price is coming also.

Main disanvantage of K1 is that I think I have to also change almost every part of my computer then, and that might cost extra 1000€... I think I should anyhow change my two 22" 200€ monitors to one better, maybe wide screen monitor with decent color rendering.
I have AMD FX 3.6GHz, 8 core + 8GB RAM + 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 6800 + Lightroom CC. Windows 10. I can wait for Import/Export, but if handling and adjustments starts to stuck, I will lost my marbles.

If/when I buy aps-c, I will (yes I'm an engineer) always think what I'm missing with cropped body? Will K1 make better quality? With K1 there wouldn't be any room for explanations, I would only blame my self. :) Then again, if I decide to go for dark side and change almost every gear, here in Finland is lightly used Nikon FF sets with bunch of lenses in markets under price of K1 body...

Image quality and Bokeh is everything for me. Currently I shoot over half of my shots with manual focus, so AF speed is mostly irrelevant.

I like K-70. But: K3 haves top-display, 2 card slots and +100k expected shutter count. K-70 also feels kind of small in my hand, I haven't even seen any battery grips for it.

I looked those. Nothing new really, but crop or crap made some decent points out. I'm engineer and have been following conversations. Sometimes I think 5 years from now, FF is gone because crop gets same results with lower costs. One thing which I don't like at all, is credibility when you're keeping courses or "acting professional". KP (and I think K-70 also) have shutter life 100k, which is kind of disapointment. Lack of WR in current camera have reduced usage a lot, because I can't take it along everywhere I want. I also like to shoot on swamp.

This moment I'm strongly going to K3 II direction. What is/are "must have" lense(s) for it?

---------- Post added 06-19-18 at 07:43 AM ----------

Can anyone recommend any shop in europe where I could get K3 II?

Thanks for reply. I was just reading last ones of those. So, is there some benefit to use crop mode of K1 compared to actual crop body? (Pixel shift ofcourse, but in image quality?)
I have checked shippings before, but didn't thought about K3 availability in other countries, thank you. Warranty is main question, in europe it's typically one year longer and much easier to handle locally.

Sounds interesting. I was writing about K3 mkII, but with that price...

I have been using K-r from 2012 (about 17000 shots so far) and now finally have money to buy replacement. Big question is either to go for full frame or not.

Mostly I do multi-exposures and detais from nature (60% of usage). In K-r I like most my old Rikenon 50/1.7 because I like short DoF, but many times it's too long and change to 28/2.8. Just bought decent manual extension tubes also. Walk-arounder is usually SMC Pentax-DA 18-55 which I usually use to portraits also(30%) and when taking rare pics of birds(10%) I change to Tamron AF Tele-Macro 70-300 4-5.6

Point is that most of my lenses are too long for my use with crop sensor, but then all but Tamron from modern lenses are for crop only. Lucky those are not expensive ones :)

Short inventory of current lenses:
Pentax SMC Pentax-DA 18-55 3.5-5.6 AL Crop
Pentax SMC Pentax-DAL 18-55 3.5-5.6 AL Crop
Pentax SMC Pentax-DAL 50-200 4-5.6 ED Crop

Pentax SMC Pentax-M 28 2.8 35mm
Pentax SMC Pentax-M 40-80 2.8-4 Macro 35mm
Pentax SMC Pentax-M 135 3.5 35mm
Ricoh XR Rikenon 50 1.7 35mm

Sigma Zoom-a2 35-105 3.5-4.5 35mm
Tamron-f Zoom Macro 85-210 4.5 BBar Multi C. 35mm
Tamron AF Tele-Macro 70-300 4-5.6 LD Di A17 Full

Makinon x2 Converter
Chinon 12-20-36mm Extension tube

Older Tamron or Sigma causes mirror flapping in K-r and can't currently be used at all.

What I think my needs are? Good body (I mean camera you nasty perverts), one decent even shorter (under 20mm I think) lens, good modern zoom up to maybe 200mm, maybe 90 or 100 macro lens (for portraits also). With close still targets I will gladly use manual lenses, but AF would of course be nice. Battery grip maybe.

What I want? Solid, not too small body. Light plastic feeling means toy in my head. I have quite big hands and my fingers hurst in mornings,so I don't want too small one. I think Battery grip will fix some of this problem, if I have afford to it after lenses and body.

So, can anyone point out
- which of these lenses are really usable in K1?
- What I have missed?
- What other equipment (or lenses) I will spend my money in next 2 years? I would like to use this new one at least next 5 years. Flash probably, I hate built-in in K-r, it messes up white balance with natural light and isn't strong enough for only or even for decent filler light. When I buy something, I like it to be strong and long lasting.
- What is your recommendations for above mentioned set with K1 and with KP or K-70 in other hand? Would you change something from what I have thought? I would like K3 II also, small top screen is nice to have, but K3 II isn't available here in Finland. Even used ones are non-existent.

---------- Post added 06-19-18 at 03:36 AM ----------

One thing more: At least body and one zoom should have WR.
