As tonight is Full moon I had to put the bigger lens I have to the trial, here is what I got handheld, K-70 and Sigma 120-400mm F4.5-5.6
I also tried to do HDR shots with a large range zoom but it did not rendered well as in bright daylight

I'll second to that, PS or Lightroom can also cause all sorts of aberrations and bad processing, you've to go easy on the knobs otherwise it'll just look artificial and sometimes worse than original picture

Been hit by GAS again for more than a month, my lenses collection has seriously grown and now includes
- Samyang 8mm fisheye in K-Mount, very fun lens not super sharp but 180⁰ vision coolness, colours are great also.
- Pentax HD DA 55-300
- both Pentax SMC DA plastic fantastic 35 and 50mm

- Sony NEX 5N with 18-55 kit lens and 16mm f2.8 prime to have a lighter camera setup I'll mostly keep in the car, and some vintage lenses for both bodies along with adapters :
- Porst Super-Weitwinkel MC 28mm f2.8 - M42 mount
- Pentaxon Auto MC 50mm f1.8 - also M42
- Zenitar 135mm auto MC f2.8
- Helios 44 M 58mm f2

Also an HSS Metz flash for the Pentax body !
All second hand, all very good shape and all bargains price 🤩

I should calm down with the buying spree and actually get out and use the new toys 😅

Landscape Sandpit works

Hey, long time I didnt posted anything here, life goes on and I here I am again, wandering around with my camera trying to capture what I found interesting around my place.

Here is a small sand stock and docks by the river, we have a few sand pits around here by the Saone river, and I loved the colors of the buildings and surroundings at sunset, so I tried to render that as close to my eye seen it. I was going to try to shoot at birds by the river, hence I was with my 120-400, quite big zoom for shooting the place just across the river, but here it is. I hope you enjoy it, and any comments are very welcome :)

Occasional shutter or trigger button bug on K-70 ?

Thanks for your answers, as I said the bug occurs no matter the AF mode in use.
I just got back from the tech service company and they refused to take it for inspection under warranty. Pentax support said they cannot take it because the law providing 2 years mandatory warranty covers only hidden defects pre-existing from the factory or design of the device. Something I'll be very unlikely to prove, and would cost me lawyer and expertise costs at first :(

I guess I can only wait and see if the glitch reappears.

I did this already and switching to MF did not change anything, being on focus or not, I was unable to trigger a shot.

I got an answer from Pentax tech support, they just tell me to send back my k-70 for maintenance.
I'm glad the contractor doing Pentax repairs is not far from me I can probably drop it there, and wait for what they can find.

Thanks everyone :)

Exactly this, is does the same thing as if it can't confirm focus and refuse to take shot because of this.
Focus works ok in auto and manual mode, it puts the dot in green on viewfinder and green squares in LV.
I'm using AF-S and focus priority, maybe I'll try shot priority next time it happens.
But it is real bug for sure I can even shut down the camera and turn it back on it does not work. Even in a different place or with another battery.

Occasional shutter or trigger button bug on K-70 ?

Hello everyone,

I had a small glitch with my K-70 that worries me. A few times the shutter went completely non functional, each time during a photo session on a walk outside.

The symptoms are focus still works both in live view and viewfinder, everything is normal, aperture works, ISO preview , exposure meter also, but impossible to shoot a picture. I tried changing camera mode to anything, including auto and program modes, I also tried manual focus but completely unable to shoot.
Last time it happened I also tried changing AF mode to AFC ( I use AFS usually ).

The only solution to recover the shutter is to do a factory reset and it instantly get back to work. Annoying if it's a bug because I have to re-change all custom settings, and worrying if the shutter is starting to fail already.

It happened 4 times in the 14 months since I bought this camera, and besides that it worked flawlessly. It has around 3200 clicks only.

I opened a ticket to Pentax support, they made me confirm I use the last firmware version, which I do since the day one.
I'm still waiting for them to get back with more info about what to do.

I can't find anyone with a similar issue on any Pentax model o line so I wonder if any of you already had this issue or something similar ?

Thanks

Hi, the AF is fine on the 18-135 and it's really a versatile lens I used it more being on vacation. I got myself a used SMC DA 55-300 at a fair price, it's not as quick to focus as modern ones and it's noisy but can have it's use

Thank you, I could probably get a few more steps backs but not very far away it was take from the sidewalk just across the street. What I tried in LR is the lens correction profile to fix the lines but I didnt like the result it felt unnatural, maybe I should watch again and see if there are option to correct only slightly the wide angle effect.

Definitely agreed with that, unfortunately there are cars parked in the street that would ruin the picture imo

Its worth trying I think I'll go back when possible to try with different orientations and framing, also test case with the SMC-PENTAX A 28mm/2.8 I just received to see if the colors render differently.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions, I really appreciate it

Potentialy a very good news for photographers in the EU

Its very good news to me, hope this deal wont be dropped. EU citizens cant fear of jobs moving to japan because they are not a low wage country and I like japanese cars, hifi, cameras, etc. so these product should see a drop in consumer price of around 10% (for non-specific tariff products, like cars)

VAT will still be applied on all products even under free trade agreement, and probably gray market camera imports from Japan and Taiwan will still come cheaper than local market because of VAT.

We can only hope they will not miss to get a free trade agreement similar to what exists with Norway, Switzerland, and now Japan as well

I like how plants tend to repel water drops from the foliage or flowers, and how you captured the reflections on them.

This is the rear side of the local church, probably the most impressive building around here. Was renovated last year and I always found it has a warm white color in the sun so wanted to capture this.

I would like to ear from you what you would have done differently, what I can improve. But feel free to comment on how to shoot buildings from the streets in general as well

Thanks

At least they're still shipping more cameras than 30 years ago. We seem to have reached a plateau since 2015, but I think that may go even further down a bit if smartphones continue to improve cameras, leaving only the enthusiasts and pro on the markets and killing the compact point and shoot totally.

Received my new bag yesterday, as the shoulder bag I bought with my camera does not fit my usages. Forked 120€ in a Lowepro Photo Sport 200 AW II and so far very happy with the change, I can bring camera for hikes and bike ride, its good also for simple walkabout.

Camera/lens compartement is smaller for some but ok for 2/3 not so big lens kit, and it has room for other stuff above. The bag keeps fitted on the back and the camera space is really tightly adjusted, this is great to limit shakes doing sports but you dont have that air flow most hitchiking bags offers behind the back. I've read bloggers claiming to use this bag for running and trails with camera but I'm not sure I can make my gear endure this
