As usual there are multiple 'winner quality images'.

But I like the simplicity and apparent compression of this one. You feel the closed-in weather, good job.

Hello -

I haven't posted anything for ages, but just voted in the last monthly contest.

This image was fun to take at the time and the focal length was 200mm.

The setup is actually a joke, the fisherman is apparently a mannequin. But even at the distance the photo shows, you'd think he was real.

It was a beautiful day, and yes people do fish in that river, for salmon.

Hi -

Thank you for this!

I have over a certain amount of time much enjoyed being part of this forum, focused as it is on picture taking.

For haggling over brands there is dpreview. No particular need for such arguments all over the enthusiast community.

Actually I am primarily a Sony shooter these days, after previously leaning towards the K1 Pentax series, also good cameras.

I've kept my small collection of classic Pentax lenses which work with adapters. My first 'good' camera was a manual film Nikon.

However I like to return and vote on the monthly contest submissions, and am in awe of the many talented people out there.

Indeed please stay civil, so this site will remain as much fun as it has been. Thanks.

Cheers, C.

Hi -
This is not all that 'special', just a testament to nice ol' vintage lenses whose makers were smart enough to imitate Pentax colour and metal construction. ; )

So it might be a lens testimonial if used on a Pentax camera, and it is new - to me! I'd give it an '8'. This is a manual lens made in Korea.

According to the seller the original marque was Hanimex. And the lens is just as sharp wide open.

Thanks once more to Pentaxforums / reviews for pointing me to it.

The subject is rose hips, which I use in tea. Uncovered in your 'fridge they will last a year and are strong in vitamin 'C'.

Regards,
/C

Conjunction of the new moon (15%) and the planet Venus (64%).

Hi -

First, congrats to the K1 camera winner. I have had input to the June photos contest only, lately.

I noticed this pretty conjuction after eight p.m., Pacific time.

The photo was taken at 9:45 p.m., + 2/3 e.v. and hand held, after a few 'Mulligans'!

Then I raised the ISO a bit. ; )

The event was predicted but I had not remembered that.

Please note that approaching July 31st we have the chance of a lifetime to see Mars more clearly.

That will be at 3 to 4 a.m. Pacific time though... and due south at about 25% elevation.

Regards, /C

Stamp River, B.C.

Hi -
This is a 'location' shot of scenic standout. By accident I had the camera choose the aperture for me.

It got it right. { ;- 0

Again no Pentax content this time. A nice day, having a look around rather than making technical calculations.

I am not online all the time, but I see the K1 contest is getting close to the required no. of posts.

Down to the wire I guess.

Cheers, C.

Hi ; )

This is partly an informal lens review (since no testing was done on a Pentax camera).

Please note that the manual lens line from Elite Brands: Rokinon, Samyang, Bower etc., includes several for full frame. Also that the Pentax versions have an 'A' setting, which I specified for the 16mm f2. That one is an APS-C lens, good for landscapes wide open.

My wall test from three metres show it to be seriously sharp one stop down, at f2.8.

Cheers

My camera works well with third party lenses, and I use adapters from Fotodiox.

The classic SMC Pentax F 50mm 1: 1.7 is just about perfect on APS-C.
